Currently going through lots of tests to work out what’s wrong with me and we (my GP and I) are drawing blanks.
Main symptoms:
Excruciating abdo pain
Extreme reflux
Extreme tiredness
Bruising whenever I even brush into something, cuts taking ages to heal and any wounds becoming infected.

I had a full blood count, including checking my thyroid and ferritin. All came back “normal, no action”.

Ultrasound scan on my stomach revealed nothing.

So, all tests point to “nothing is wrong”, but there very clearly is.

I am so frustrated!

Oh, my AIBU - AIBU to ask for your opinions on this mystery illness?

I’m female, mid 30s. Not overweight, not underweight.

It might sound daft, but my first thought was scurvy. Google it, think about what your diet is like, if it’s very low on fruit and veg.....? It’s very rare, but who knows. Easily treated, so please no panic.

Have you seen an endocrine specialist?

NAFScamander · 15/02/2020 13:50

Wounds that get infected and long time to heal??? Ask to be swabbed for MSSA-PVL.
Metacillin sensitive staphylococcus aureus-Pantone valentin Leukocidin. It’s a mutated version of staphylococcus aureus. No idea for the rest of your symptoms I’m afraid xx

Hi OP,

Have you looked into fibromyalgia at all? I could be way off - and hopefully it's not that - but the fatigue and abdo pain (and no obvious sign of anything wrong from the blood tests) made me think perhaps it's worth a look:

Hope you get some answers soon.

RubyWho · 15/02/2020 14:53

Thanks everyone.
In terms of diet - it’s very good, loads of fruit and veg (especially green leafy veg).

I’ve not seen an endocrine specialist - I guess I can ask for a referral?

Re: Fibro - if it is that, then I’m fucked because I’m already taking one of the medications commonly prescribed for it (Venlafaxine) for depression and whilst it’s helped my depression, it hasn’t helped any of the other symptoms. I have considered it might be this tbh, or CFS/ME.

Has your liver blood tests and clotting been done?

RubyWho · 15/02/2020 14:56

ZZZ - yes. No issue so no further action needed apparently

Has a bone profile, coeliac screen, B12, folate and vitamin D been checked? I’d also consider a Helicobacter pylori breath test

Splenny · 15/02/2020 15:04

My dd who is 13 has been feeling the same and she’s just had blood tests to check ferritin, thyroid and full blood count. She’s also got awful headaches.

The doctor thinks it could be due to low iron.

I’m not sure what to do if the blood test come back as normal.

RubyWho · 15/02/2020 15:07

Notanother - yes all of these have been checked and come back normal. HPylori checked through breath and stool samples, again - normal (or no presence of them).

I only say endo because the lack of healing could be cushings or something similar. Might be worth seeing one.
