Been with my guy for about 3 years now. Around a year ago I noticed his breath was very smelly the majority of the time. I plucked up the courage to tell him and he discovered he had a bad tooth. I put up with it for a while but the smell was getting worse. He wouldn’t repair the tooth subsequently I was put off getting intimate with him. I told him again that his bad breath was affecting intimacy. He repaired the tooth and the bad breath is still there. This has been going on now for about 9 months. Sex has reduced because I’m just put off and simply don’t like the smell.

Do I really need to tell him a third time?! It’s pissing me off and sometimes I just can’t relax when we’re together because I have to put up with the stench. I feel like his being disrespectful. I am contemplating leaving him but feel bad. Need advice how to tackle this?!

I’d ask him if he notices the stench.
He clearly knows that you’re off-put as you’re recoiling from him physically.
Maybe he’s in denial.
Either have a heart to heart or leave. If he won’t do anything about it then you know what to do.

You were clear about the problem and he hasn't fixed it. YANBU, imagine if you marry and have a DC then he won't fix a hygeine problem that develops. Sorry (this is one of my real no-nos! may be I am over the top) but I'd have to leave him!

He's got the tooth repaired so what's the smell? Does he know it still smells after the repair?

He’s probably got halitosis. Stones that build up in holes at the back of your throat and they smell horrific- it’s got absolutely nothing to do with his cleanliness. He needs to see his dentist for advice

It could also be gum disease. That smells horrific too. Easily fixed with Chlorhexidine mouthwash from Boots, Superdrug, any pharmacy / supermarket etc.

Someone I was seeing has terrible b.o . People have pulled him on it, but still . It was horrible , I’d smell of it as did my sheets. I couldn’t cope long term.
