Posting here for traffic but please help me my little boy seems to have a horrible rash, took him to the doctors about it two days ago and the doctors said it could be an allergic reaction to omega 3 vitamins I have start given him so I stopped it I’ll attach a picture of these horrible almost blister like rashes he has around his wrists. I won’t be able to get an appitment now till Monday and I’m really worried because it doesn’t seem to be going down:(

Need help!

Is it just around his wrists?

lanthanum · 14/02/2020 16:58

Try popping into your nearest pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist? If the doctor said probably allergy, Piriton might help (and is unlikely to do any harm).

Cantthinkofausernametbh · 14/02/2020 17:03

Hi guys it’s in his wrists fingers but I’ve found one random bump on his foot too, seems to be one on his cheek it’s just one on top of the other on his wrists:(

If it's on his foot too then my money is on Hand foot and mouth. I got this (as an adult) and it was on my wrists mainly.

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/02/2020 17:05

Has he touched any plants outdoors? Like nettles?
It does look like an allergic reaction but reactions to food (vitamins) don’t normally show up on wrists. You could go to chemist and get an antihistamine and some cream for them.

Yabadee · 14/02/2020 17:07

They don’t really look like hfm spots to me, but if it’s on his hands and feet it’s a possibility. Take him to the pharmacist and see what they say

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/02/2020 17:08

I agree with bumbling if it’s on his foot and by his mouth too, it is probably HFMD (hand foot mouth disease) which is common in children and very mild.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 14/02/2020 17:09

Er, sorry, clicked YABU by mistake.

I agree to try the pharmacy. Perhaps impetigo?

StiffUpperQuip · 14/02/2020 17:10

Very likely hand, foot and mouth disease. Not a big deal for most children. Contagious but NHS says you don't need to keep them off nursery or school at all. Mine had it and I never knew at all for ages and assumed heat spots or allergic reaction to something. It wasn't until another school mum was saying it was going round that I realised what the little spots were.

I wouldn't worry about it. If he's okay in himself his wait it out. It's no biggie in most cases.

StiffUpperQuip · 14/02/2020 17:11

And the spots are identical to a child I saw this week who was diagnosed with HF&M by the doctor.

OscarWildesCat · 14/02/2020 17:15

My DS had blisters like these at the start of hand foot and mouth too. Get to a pharmacy for something or call out of hours for help.

Cantthinkofausernametbh · 14/02/2020 17:17

Thanks everyone! I’ve googled it and it says it can last 7-10 days:( he seems to point to it sometimes so I’m assuming it’s itchy, could I possibly catch it from him? Because I haven’t he’s also in contact with my sisters kids on a regular basis and nothing has been passed just yet, any advice on how I can help with? I’m not sure I have piriton but I do have a cream that is supposed to help with the itch, he won’t let me put it on and I’ve mainly been putting it on when he naps or sleeps otherwise he tends to try and lick it which of course isn’t ideal! I feel so bad for the poor little dude:(

OscarWildesCat · 14/02/2020 17:19

It isn't really a massive deal and gets better on it's own after a few days.

Mummyzzz044 · 14/02/2020 17:33

Hand foot and mouth, impetigo. I also get eczema on my hands and fingers that blister up. Sorry though just suggestions. Pop to the chemist for peace of mind.

Cantthinkofausernametbh · 14/02/2020 19:06

@Mummyzzz044 it actually does look a lot like that, how do you treat it and how long does it last?

It looks very much like hand foot and mouth. Any blisters on his nappy area? My dc have just had it and there seems to be a lot going around atm. Dc1s did itch like a bugger and drove him made. We got poxclin from amazon to help and my god it was a god send. We also used cool packs and an oat bath to help relieve him until it arrived.

Has he had a temperature, sore throat, runny nose or cold like symptoms?

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 14/02/2020 19:12

Also keep the skin cool and uncovered if it's irritating him. Heating up and summer pj's worked for us

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 14/02/2020 19:16

This was ds1s. He had it in his mouth, around his mouth, on his hands and forearms, bum, lower legs and feet.

Cantthinkofausernametbh · 14/02/2020 19:35

No signs of a sore throat no temperature etc
