My son woke suddenly in the middle of the night screaming and crying 3 weeks ago. He eventually managed to say he had fallen out of bed and was crying about ants on his feet and wanted us to get them off.
We initially thought it was a nightmare, but the 'ants' seemed to be a physical sensation. We assumed it was pins and needles from his description (he's nearly 3.5 and his language isn't great). For the first week, the 'ants' regularly bothered him when lying or sitting down and he would get really upset and scream at us to 'get them off.' Over the last two weeks, things have gradually improved and they now only bother him at night. Every single night. We are not getting enough sleep and are both tired and grumpy...
The GP saw no sign of anything physically visible and he has a full range of movement, so he's referred him to paediatrics at our local hospital. As we want to go private, we need to choose a specialist doctor and not sure which one. General paediatrics? Neurology?
I am really worried about this due to his age. We have a family history of MS - surely he's too young for this? Could it be poor circulation and he's just cold and we should try warm bed socks? (His room is really warm btw!).
Has anyone been through similar? What did it turn out to be?
Thanks for reading, sorry this was so long! X
