Our washing machine broke the other day. The drum was loose. So my DH figured out the potential problem and we found a repairman to come and sort the job out.
He agreed with my husband on the issue and ordered said part. They both thought it was the spider that held the drum in place. So the repairman today took the washing machine apart (a good 45minute job) and found the spider perfectly intact. The issue was that the bolt holes in the drum that hold the spider in place had worn away. Not something that should happen to metal and especially not after only 3 and a half years!
The repairman said he had never seen anything like it and that's not what usually goes. He then spent 45 minutes putting the machine back together and trying to source said drum. Just for reference our washing machine is meant to be 9kg.
So after all the ringing around he found two things:
- the drum is obsolete. They have changed the design. Probably due to the severe manufacturing fault but obviously as it isn't dangerous there hasn't been a recall. Just customers having to spend more money.
- apparently samsung didnt do a 9kg drum for that model of washing machine....which is odd as our washing machine clearly states 9kg. So they think that an 8kg drum was in our 9kg machine!
AIBU to think Samsung are CFs!
Also when trying to contact samsung they said we can send a repairman or offer you 25% discount on a new machine!
A) why would I need another repairman to tell me what I already know and am trying to tell you!
B) why would i buy another samsung washing machine when this one did last that long!
Grrr!
