To think there's something wrong with me??!

I know I need to speak to a GP but I am completely freaking out right now.

Every single time I pick up any illness (which is often) I end up with an awful infection straight away. In the last 12 months I've had a chest infection, throat infection, some kind of gastric virus which gave me a high temp, the beginnings of pneumonia (was sent to a&e for that and my infection markers were as high as can be read by the blood test) and now, yet another throat infection.

Every gland from my jaw to my collarbone is raised and tender, my temp is 38.8 and I'm aching. Why is this happening? I'm so worried and so so fed up Sad this is really getting me down now.

So as not to drip feed, I had a gastric sleeve in October and have so far lost 4.5 stone, so in theory, I'm the healthiest I've been in a long time! I also take a multitude of multivitamins to cover all bases but my eating is much healthier of course.

I'm not a doctor but I would guess you have an underlying condition or infection, which weakens your system and leaves you more vulnerable to the other things you're getting. It could be something like undiagnosed strep for example.

Even taking multivits, you are possibly malnourished and vitamin deficient. Is your hair falling out?

NotALurker2 · 13/02/2020 21:34

Maybe you have a tooth infection?

Ginfordinner · 13/02/2020 21:37

Diabetes?

TreesSandSea · 13/02/2020 21:41

You having your B12 injections yet?

I’m like this. Been diagnosed with fibromyalgia- not sure how much I believe in that as a diagnosis, but that’s “all” it is although it is fucking miserable. I am on some drugs which help the symptoms somewhat.

Since the GS interfers with your digestion, and throat connects to lungs, maybe that goes with gastric & throat infection.

GERD was hypothesised to connect to throat infections here.

And voila... a bariatric sleeve connected to pneumonia here. I guess GERD could mean inappropriate material getting into the esophagus/lungs.

With a sleeve you should be taking a Complete multivitamin and mineral like Forceval, iron tablets plus calcium and vitamin D (you can buy all of these at chemists). It is essential to get adequate folate, zinc, copper and selenium which is why you need a complete preparation to ensure you get all these. Vitamin B12 should be administered at your GP surgery.
I don't have a sleeve but have been dieting and lost a similar amount (although over a longer period). I have added an effervescent vitamin C and zinc tablet when I feel under par to boost my immune system.
Good luck and hope you feel better soon

You need an MOT type investigation. Call your GP, book an appointment and explain why he needs to investigate you. Good health is very important.
