So off the back of the thread on drag - love/hate it -

Would you take your kids to this show? Performed by a drag artist, though obvs it's made for kids.
My family ARE going so YANBU means - sure I'd take my kids, looks great, celebrates diversity etc.
YABU is NO way would I take my kids, it's not appropriate etc:

If it's a family show and they sell kids tickets, yes I would. You could check with them what age of children it's aimed at though if you wanted.

There is always a drag star in panto

Pootlepootlepootle · 13/02/2020 12:00

Hi, it's deffo appropriate for ages 4+, it was more the question of as it's based around drag would or would you not go?

I'd take mine.

TwitcherOfCurtains · 13/02/2020 12:12

I can't find enough info about the show to make up my mind. I'd have to preview the show I think.

Emijen · 13/02/2020 12:14

I would

averythinline · 13/02/2020 12:18

There's other shows I would choose ahead of this ....as not sure a 4-7yrold needs glamour and glitz to get the ugly duckling story it's a brilliant tale as is...

This. Yes I would.

Comefromaway · 13/02/2020 12:20

Considering I've already taken them to Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Kinky Boots & Everybody's Talking About Jamie, then yes, I would.

Damntheman · 13/02/2020 12:21

Looks lovely! I'll always celebrate diversity and teach my children that it can be a good thing to be different. Looks like this show is doing the same teaching how Duckie's differences became their strengths.

Pootlepootlepootle · 13/02/2020 12:28

Maybe the peeps on this thread are entirely at odds with the ones on the drag thread then! Where drag is being likened to 'blackface'.
Because this IS a show by a drag artist, in drag. Personally though I can't wait to see it with the kids.

I'm confused as to why you wouldn't.

Are your children afraid of sequins?

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 13/02/2020 12:39

I can't tell enough from the description to know.

I have stopped taking the kids to panto after the last two had horrific pantomime dames - who were less nudge-nudge-wink-wink and more full on single entendre with outright offensively misogynist 'jokes'

because drag is 'misogynistic' 'woman face' apparently...

I mean, who DOESN'T love a glitter beard! I swear if I were a bloke I'd grow a massive beard, spray it gold and hang baubles off the damn thing!

Damntheman · 13/02/2020 14:07

I didn't touch the drag thread, not even with a 10 ft pole, because I suspected I knew what it would contain. And indeed I was apparently correct! Still not going to touch it :D Suspect there are quite a few here who will avoid threads like that.

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 13/02/2020 14:17

I've yet to be convinced drag is child-suitable entertainment - perhaps .

Much like I wouldn't take them to kiddie burlesque or pole-dancing, it's very much an adult thing in my experience (even the pantomime dames are definitely there to provide the parents with jokes - the kids don't get them at all thank goodness)

This doesn't seem to be explicitly drag, although the performer is (and I've just looked him up on youtube, he's mainly singing from what I see in previous shows - although they are definitely pitched at adults). TBH, I didn't find what I saw particularly funny, so I think I wouldn't go mainly because it just doesn't look like it's going to be very good, and no amount of sequins is going to change that.
