To just shit on the floor instead?

As my username suggests, I am blooming tired.

Just moved into a new lovely home. One dd, been with dh for 4 years now and I thought that he'd be okay with sitting at a bloody table like a normal family!!!

He insists that we sit at the sofa, Dd13 wants to eat in her room.
That is how our old home had been like and I want to sit at the table for once!!!
Is it too much to ask?? Shall we all just bloody sit on the floor to eat instead??

Sorry for the rant but I am fuming. Angry

I was intrigued. Instead of what??

WalkingDeadTrainee · 12/02/2020 19:29

I came here expecting some fecal blackmail. Disappointed 😂

Am i getting it right that that's how it used to be? Maybe it's the habit. Make a deal of few nights at the table. Good compromise

4amWitchingHour · 12/02/2020 19:31

Tell him why it's important to you, hopefully he'll get it / at least be nice enough to do it for you. It's not exactly a chore to sit at a table for dinner.

Also, nominate for Classics. That's going to be my flouncing phrase now

WELL I'LL JUST GO AND SHIT ON THE FLOOR THEN WON'T I

Genius.

Alsoco · 12/02/2020 19:31

Ahhh you made my day 😂

PanicAndRun · 12/02/2020 19:32

Shit everywhere they like to eat and then they'll be forced to sit at the table.

Why do you want to be at table? Because it's the done thing? To talk about your day? Just something you think families should do? Have you ever eaten at the table together before?

I'd do the opposite for a compromise.Eat wherever during the week, and at the weekends when everyone is home, more relaxed etc eat at the table.

Had to read the opening post twice as couldn’t work out where the 💩 came into it!!
But we do a bit of both too, sit at the table when all eating the same meal so that’s a few times a week but also sit on the sofa when the kids have had to eat early because they have an activity, like tonight. However, no one is allowed to take food up to their room unless it’s soup and they are poorly or the teenagers are going out and in a complete rush as friends are coming in 20 minutes and they are still doing make up, realistically a few times a year. I don’t think teenager should just go up to their room to eat. Even you and her could eat at the table.

SeeUNextTuesday · 12/02/2020 19:37

Gotta say, I opened this wondering where the hell it was going.........GrinGrin

TeetotalKoala · 12/02/2020 19:41

Amazing typo.

You are the parent. DD can want to eat in her room as much as she likes. If you're cooking it, she eats it at the table. You can't tell your DP where to eat as he's a grown man. But you can call him out if he won't sit with the rest of you.

MissConductUS · 12/02/2020 19:43

And here I opened the thread because I thought you had ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Grin

Mammatino · 12/02/2020 19:48

Oh poor you and your brill typo. Love it, please don't change it. I'm with you, eating at the table is a nice way to connect for twenty minutes everyday. It encourages you to think about what you're eating, chew it properly and aids better digestion. Studies show lots of positive reasons for eating together, stress reduction, healthier choices etc. We try to do it during the week but not Fridays and together for Sunday lunch times, mainly because I've gone to alot of effort and I dont want the ingrates shitting on the floor blindly shovelling it in with out tasting it.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 12/02/2020 19:50

I, too want a ”snapped and farted” tee-shirt, right, OP? Hmm

Alsohuman · 12/02/2020 19:51

Wonderful typo. 🤣

Wanteddownunder · 12/02/2020 19:56

Does he normally insist on things?

LynetteScavo · 12/02/2020 19:56

I voted YABU because nobody should shit on the floor.

Rosesarere · 12/02/2020 20:15

I'm a bit disappointed the thread wasnt actually about shitting on the floor.... Haha

SimonJT · 12/02/2020 20:17

If you shit on the floor at least choose a hard floor 😂

puds11 · 12/02/2020 20:18

Man I was super curious as to why you wanted to shit on the floor Grin

floffel · 12/02/2020 20:23

Brilliant OP!

FlapAttack23 · 12/02/2020 20:27

Definitely yes, shit on the floor!!!!

MintySpud · 12/02/2020 20:38

Laughed so much I woke up Baby Archie in Canada!Grin

2020newme · 12/02/2020 20:39

Do you do all the cooking OP?

I would say if you cook, they all eat where you say (at the table) or you will just cook for yourself.

FizzyIce · 12/02/2020 20:46

Oh .. I thought you had a dodgy toilet or you were staging a dirty protest

BuddhaAtSea · 12/02/2020 20:50

🤣🤣🤣
In all seriousness though, no, YANBU. On the sofa with the telly on is not really family time.
I make my teenage DD eat at the table with me if we’re both home at dinner time. She likes it now, she calls it ‘annoying mum time’ and she spouts everything that goes on in her life.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/02/2020 20:53

@MintySpud Laughed soooo hard all the dogs are staring at me Wink Want to know where I am in the UK? Look in the direction your dog is looking.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/02/2020 20:57
