Coronavirus - Malaysia and Singapore for Easter

Feeling quite stressed! We're a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children - eldest child is 8 and youngest is 2) and we are due to go to Penang and Singapore over the Easter hols. I'm getting a bit stressed about the reports we're getting about the spread of the coronavirus - everyone seems to be telling us not to go as there have been 48 cases in Singapore so far. Feeling confused :( We have travel insurance. What would you do? Is it just a case of waiting for FCO advice?

If you want your money back from the insurance company you have to wait until the FCO advise against all but essential travel to the area.

So it's just a wait and see thing. Sods law - we were so excited about exploring this part of the world and now I can imagine myself being the paranoid mum from hell! Urgh

We will have a clearer view of the extent of the virus by then, though.

It might be everywhere by then.

Hi. We are in a similar position, we have flights booked to Singapore on 3rd April, not the sort of holiday we usually take the kids on ( 12vand 13)!
Whilst there is no advice not to go and we have no underlying health conditions I am still concerned about how much we would enjoy the trip if we go. And the fear of being stuck that far from home if we get ill or there is a bigger outbreak.
Fortunately our hotels can all be cancelled at late notice and I haven't bought any attraction rockets yet, but we would lose the cost of the flights which is substantial...
We are not making a decision yet but as there are still new cases daily in Singapore my gut feeling is currently we won't be going. And probably won't do anything instead due to the outbreaks in Europe too.
On the plus side all my research and planning can be used at a later date so we will hopefully go in the next couple of years.
