To report illegally parked car?

LolaLollypop · 12/02/2020 15:20

I live on a small cul-de-sac and there is a car that permanently parks on double yellows outside my house. It doesn't block me in but it makes parking in my drive more difficult (I usually reverse park in my drive but where this car parks means I can't do that).

To make matters worse, it's a company car I.e not someone's personal car. It has the company logo all over it.

I've seen the driver and (I presume) his colleague park up and head down my road in the direction of the tube station. Obviously trying not to pay for parking!

I've left it for ages now hoping it's a one off but it's actually starting to piss me off now.

WWYD?

I'd report it.

I have reported an abandoned car once that was causing ridiculously long tail backs, there was a online form to complete on the Police's website (not sure if every force has that though)

otherwise you could ring 101

Comefromaway · 12/02/2020 15:27

I'd report it too.

I'm very tempted to report a car that keeps parking on double yellow lines at the mouth of our cul de sac. There are no houses there as the road curls round before meeting the main road but it hinders visability in and out of the junction. It belongs to someone either living at or visiting the vicarage!

SoupDragon · 12/02/2020 15:28

I would start by reporting it to the company to see if that sorts it.

mencken · 12/02/2020 15:32

take photos and send to the company. Tell them that if this doesn't stop (Without the employee being told who you are) it will be all over the local 'parking like a dick' groups.

SpringFan · 12/02/2020 15:36

Complain to the company, include the Reg number. Especially if they have a twitter account.

LASH38 · 12/02/2020 15:36

Is it worth leaving a note in the car?

When we had this a neighbour left a note along the lines of

‘apologies for hitting your car, there’s no damage but you might want to stop parking on the double yellows’.

Didn’t leave any details so obviously driver didn’t know who it was from.

Never saw the car again.

DobbyLovesSocks · 12/02/2020 15:37

We have this on our street. Park opposite our drive and whilst not illegal makes parking a flipping nightmare. Absolutely report as they are parking on double yellows

GinDaddy · 12/02/2020 15:41

Report it - the lines are there for a reason. Absolutely despise folk who do this and endanger people.

BreconBeBuggered · 12/02/2020 15:47

Report it for me, go on. There's a twat in a van who likes to park blocking the driveway opposite ours, and whilst that doesn't inconvenience us as much as it does our neighbours, it does, as in your case, make it impossible to reverse into our driveway. And consequently very difficult to reverse out into a narrow space. So reporting of a similar CFer would help to rebalance the universe.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 12/02/2020 15:48

I’d take a photo, tweet it and email it to the company advising them that if you see this car parked on double yellow lines again you’ll be reporting them to the police and local council parking enforcement.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/02/2020 15:52

Yep! I too would report it to the company letting htem know they have a couple of days to get it sorted before I shared it on certain fb pages, local council etc etc.

Have a look and see if your area has a public report system for shite parking, some do!

LolaLollypop · 12/02/2020 15:53

Thanks all Grin I'm going to leave a note on the car reminding them the doubles are there for a reason. If it carries on then I've just seen our council has a function where you can report an illegally parked car so that will be option 2.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/02/2020 15:53

Cross post!

Yippee!!! Have fun with that Grin

JKScot4 · 12/02/2020 15:55

I wouldn’t bother with the note, just call your LA and report it and they can get a parking warden to ticket it.
Leaving the CFer a note gives them a heads up, let them get the ticket.

LtJudyHopps · 12/02/2020 15:55

That note is genius! If it’s a company car though they probably won’t be that bothered. I’d send an email to the company with a photo in the first instance. If it continues report definitely!

cowboy · 12/02/2020 15:56

Report it. We have single yellow lines outside our house to prevent lazy parents parking at school pick up and drop off times - supposedly.

There is always the odd one who thinks it can't possibly apply to them though and parks there regardless, blocks driveways and parks on corners. Don't forget to update us all though

IanSomerhalderIsAGod · 12/02/2020 16:09

Sadly it won't do much good, I've taken photos - evidence of cars parked at bus stops and on double yellows but they can't do anything with it unless they physically see it themselves.

PigletJohn · 12/02/2020 16:50

I like to post it on Facebook, either on your local resident's page and on the company whose name is on the side. Tale frequent photos, showing changes in weather and season, to illustrate how long it has been going on for. A few words like "sorry to see Bloogins & Son are parking on double yellow lines again." I once did that with a local taxi company parked in a disabled bay outside the betting shop.

You might like to get a new Facebook persona first, so they can't come and lob a brick through your window.

strawberry2017 · 12/02/2020 16:58

100% take pictures and post them in the company Facebook page or Twitter. Make sure you include the reg and it will stop in no time!

LolaLollypop · 13/02/2020 15:49

I emailed the local authority and lo and behold, came out of the house today to see a bright yellow fine on their windscreen. Not only that but someone has obviously clattered down the side of the car scratching it as they've driven off. That'll teach them! Grin
If they continue to park there I'll get in touch with the company. Hopefully they'll stop after this!
