Hi all! My DD10 has recently been “diagnosed” with dyslexia 😔
I’m not sure where to start when it comes to supporting her and I’m not sure what I should be expecting from her school...... we were told about this in November and haven’t heard from the school since! I’ve requested a meeting with her teacher in the hopes of getting some guidance as to what we should be doing at home.
Does anyone know of any resources available to us? We are in Scotland
Thanks 😊

We absolutely love Nessy (an online app), and it has been a trusty companion for my DC for the last couple of years. DC1 diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia, and has massively struggled in school.

Toe by toe is great but gruelling. Have started using word wasp which similar to toe by toe but they write as well so little more interactive.

Don't underestimate the other problems that come with dyslexia, such as poor organisational skills - it is those, rather thanreadin/writing problems, which will make their life difficult in the world of work.

Make sure they don't go overboard on the determination to make their own way without help - mine did not make use of the help available to him at uni, because he wanted to "do it himself", and ended up dropping out with huge student loan to repay and no degree.
