I'm currently putting the finishing touches to a very detailed letter outlining my position to my boss, who has behaved shamefully since I went back to work part time.

Heres the thing, I need to decide whether to keep the following point in the letter:

"You commented that I had ?not deigned to keep in touch? whilst on leave and stated that this meant that I am ?not a team player.? I found these comments distressing for several reasons:

I. xxxxxxxx
II. xxxxxxxx
III. xxxxxxxx
IV. Your tone and language used (?deigned to keep in touch?) was offensive."

It really was offensive and he was being a total arsehole. Deigned to keep in touch indeed! But do I mention that or is it getting too nitpicky, dya think?

Cheers flowery. I have now taken out the bit about the bereavements and have changed the bit about his tone to being unprofessional...

fabulous, good stuff!

You do have plenty of meaty stuff as it is.
Keep us updated won't you?

yep agree flowerybeanbag. when I went through a sexual discrimination thing the only points my lawyer would allow me to raise were factual not emotional

(.. which was a shame because I quite fancied having a right go at them harpy style)

flowerybeanbag · 03/09/2007 14:38

Indeed, reserve harpy-style yelling for voodoo doll of boss or similar...

Should probably add; this letter is at this point just a letter, not a formal grievance, but I have been advised to put everything down to try to resolve the issues amicably first. Then at least if it fails, I have shown willing and have some good documentation. (I have requested he responds by clarifying my role in writing.)

Cheers again for all the good advice. Will absolutely keep you updated! (Although am going away for a week and hoping he'll get his strop at letter out of the way whilst I'm gone!! )

harpy style screaming is underrated as a force for good in the world
