If it was just DH and I we would definitely have jacked it all in for an easier way of life but as we now have 3 DC too it's a bit more responsibility.

The main thing driving me for a change is that the main road near where we live is definitely busier over the last few years (so thinking from a pollution point of view for the DC).

I also think HOW can it be a bad thing to life by the ocean ?!

We have good, well paid jobs though , live in a nice village and DC love their primary school. On the face of it people would wonder why we would jack all of that in (I wonder too sometimes, hence my asking mn).

So anyone made a big change for the better ? Smile

Best friend did this. The dream didn't live up to reality unfortunately.

At certain times of the year it's lovely (they're on the south coast) but the country lanes are dangerous, everybody drives like lunatics, you have to drive to get ANYWHERE and other than the sea and touristy places their children hate it because it's pretty boring. Parking is a nightmare. They're a long way from family. There are plenty of other downsides too.

The upsides are beach walks (when the weather is nice) and being in a quieter area.

If you decide to go for it really do your homework, get plenty of advice and visit your chosen location at different times of year to see if it's something you can live with!
