Like is it only accessible twice a day?

Or are the ground floors submerged at high tide?

Houses seem cheaper than nearby and according to google buses get you to benfleet station in a reasonable time.

What's going on?

Essex

Don’t be so ridiculous.

Last year or possibly the year before a group of travellers moved onto the grassy area near the front. Unfortunately they absolutely trashed it, leaving rubbish everywhere. Once they were removed, immediately people started coming out of their homes to clear it up. Even in some of the other 'nicer' areas round here, residents just wouldn't bother, seeing it as someone else's problem. People on canvey seem to take pride in their area, and their community and look after it.

Only accessible twice a day? Are you thinking of Mersea and crossing the Strood? Canvey is not so bad, we know people that live there and are very happy. There are crime problems, I think mainly with youths and gangs, but that's a problem in lots of Essex even the naice parts. I wouldn't live there (am in North Essex) as it's too far out for me, and not being native Essex, I think I'd feel too isolated. We've taken the kids to the seafront there, it's a bit rundown but clean, I've heard they're investing more into the area as they've done with Southend.

I was actually a bit disappointed the first time I went to Canvey and realised it wasn't really an island, it's just land like any other area.
