C'mon, who REALLY feels like exercising when they have their period?

Not really a TAAT but...

After looking at the #thisgirlcan ad with the tampon string hanging out.... how many people feel like exercising when they have their period? Not when its tailing off, but when it's full flow. I don't- I just want to sit around in loose, warm clothes and drink tea.
YABU= I totally feel like exercising during my period
YANBU= Nope, don't feel like exercising

I do. I find it eases my cramps. Of course I wouldn't go swimming but some cardio or a weights workout is great.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/02/2020 20:57

Not me - but then I don’t feel like it when I’m not on either!

mummyrocks1 · 09/02/2020 20:59

I don't either. I feel rotten and all bloated and quite often tummy ache. My period is so heavy at times I would be worried about leaking.

Peapod29 · 09/02/2020 20:59

Doesn’t make a difference to me. Since I’ve had my children I’ve been lucky enough to not suffer cramps (awful ovulation pain instead) but even before when they were awful I used to find exercise helped.

Poetryinaction · 09/02/2020 21:00

I have dreadful period pain but moving around, running, swimming eases the cramps and takes my mind off it. It wouldn't occur to me not to exercise.

MorganKitten · 09/02/2020 21:00

I do, makes periods lighter. I’ve never had cramps or pms so don’t know if it helps though.

BigButtons · 09/02/2020 21:01

I never FEEL like exercising, but do it anyway period or not.

Winterwoollies · 09/02/2020 21:01

I do. It really lifts my mood and eases my cramps and bloating. I feel a trillion times better afterwards.

Poetryinaction · 09/02/2020 21:02

Currently at 55% and 55%. That's weird.

ShinyMe · 09/02/2020 21:02

I never want to exercise. Having a period doesn't change that.

KatharinaRosalie · 09/02/2020 21:03

Makes no difference.

OhMsBeliever · 09/02/2020 21:03

No. I have 2 days where I can hardly leave the house without flooding, so I'm not going to go the gym on those days. Days either side are ok, and I'll happily go, but not on my heaviest days. Then I like to stay at home and nap a lot!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 09/02/2020 21:04

Me
Maybe slightly more gently
But in general I've never been a snuggle under the duvet with chocolate kind of person

AmazingGreats · 09/02/2020 21:04

I have terrible periods and don't want to or sometimes can't function at all the first couple of days. I know it's not like that for everybody though.

ColaFreezePop · 09/02/2020 21:04

It completely depends from period to period. Some periods I'm fine and don't feel any different, but others I've thrown up before or during exercise so had to stop.

Fluffiest · 09/02/2020 21:04

Nope, not me. I feel exhausted and permanently cold on my period. I need to stay glued to a hot water bottle and blankets.

mynameiscalypso · 09/02/2020 21:05

Makes no difference to me at all. I had about six months of having full blown periods every other week so not exercising during that time would have been quite limiting!-

drivingtofrance · 09/02/2020 21:05

I exercise a lot. On the first day of my period I really do not want to wear my tight leggings and go down the gym. I get very bloated, diarrhoea, cramps, flooding.. Nah.. I'd happily go for a walk on my ow if the weather w as okay though.

CalamityJune · 09/02/2020 21:05

I don't really feel any different either way so it wouldnt bother me. Maybe wouldn't fancy swimming on day 1-2 but other than that it's not a factor

Toddlerteaplease · 09/02/2020 21:07

Doesn't cause me an issue. I just carry on as normal.

beela · 09/02/2020 21:12

Some months it makes no difference, other months it makes me feel like sitting on the sofa and eating allllll the chocolate. But the sensible and wise part of me knows that doing the exercise will make me feel better, so I do it. Usually.

PenguinsOnParade · 09/02/2020 21:16

I do. Used to have really heavy, painful periods and while they're still heavy I cramp so much less if I keep my routine up.

MitziK · 09/02/2020 21:17

Even PE teachers don't feel like exercising when they come on.

But - and it's a but that seriously offends me, as it means my evil PE teacher from Secondary School was right all along - for the vast majority of women, exercising does ease the cramps within about ten minutes and, in many cases, means that the period finishes sooner.

I hate the fact that she was right all along. But she was.

Mind you, at 47, I'd rather like to curl up into a ball under my desk and pretend that it isn't happening to me, especially when I've started getting decidual casts every 2-3 months. That bastarding exercise still helps with those, too.

NewYearNewTwatName · 09/02/2020 21:30

I have a very physical job, and have heavy periods. I feel so much better on the days I'm working. On non work days I feel like shit, back ache, cramps and bloated.

I do have to use the loo a lot at work though, and wear a pad as well as a tampon.
