To help me choose a holiday destination

DH and I have the opportunity to go on our first proper childfree holiday this year thanks to my PILs offering to have DCs for a week. But it's hard to know where to start with looking at where to go when there are so many options. So what I'd like to know is: what are your favourite places you've been to that fit the following criteria?

  • In Europe
  • Focus is on relaxation but do not want to go somewhere where there is nothing to see and do
  • Lovely beaches
  • No 'Brits abroad' vibe or soulless and tacky resorts; definitely want a grown-up, chilled atmosphere

Have been researching various places in Greece, Madeira and Sardinia so far but all ideas welcome! Where have you been that you've loved?

I'd recommend a cruise round the Mediterranean. You can do as much or as little as you wish and decide that on the day.

Santorini & maybe another island?

Croatia! Beautiful, friendly and decently priced. My favourite recent holiday and would definitely return (and I don't go anywhere twice!)

I second Croatia. Beautiful place.

What time of year, and temperature?

We went there without the kids & it's not somewhere I would take young dc. Lovely & relaxing although we only went the beach once as we had a pool.

We stayed here but I can't remember if it was the suites or hotel

We're going to be going in June; definitely want warm/hot weather.
