DD has her birthday today. 3 friends are arriving in an hour. They are 'sleeping' over.

I doubt there will be much sleeping.

Help.

Just three? Ah you’ll be fine. How old are they?

hazell42 · 08/02/2020 18:17

How old?
I didnt really encourage sleepovers tilI could safely go to bed and leave them to it.
Lots of snacks, dvds and earplugs are my top tips
Also, if you have neighbours let the kids know in advance what time they have to start to keep the noise down.

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 18:17

They range from older 8 to just turned 10. They are lovely... but hyper when together!

Ah they’ll be fine at that age. Are they sleeping in her room or lounge? At that age we would have them all in the lounge with popcorn, films etc Ndeverntuallu they’d go to sleep. We would pop down occasionally to tell them to be quiet. But at that age they aren’t really able to stay awake all night so you should get some sleep too!

TraumaSaurus · 08/02/2020 18:25

Be prepared. Plan. As many non-sugary but fun snacks as possible. Late night movie and you may find they will drift off.

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 18:37

Half an hour to go. Missed calls from parent of one girl...

So. Angry Dad has been driving around our part of town looking for our road. He thought dropoff was 6pm, not 7. Tried to tell me I'd written the wrong date on his DDs invite... except I printed them. On being given directions, he said 'I've already been up there - there are no house numbers on the houses. You're not there.'

I bloody well am, mate Hmm

One child dropped off early. DD, naturally, is delighted.

earplugs. Lots of crisps, provide a quiet room for the one kid Who will want to sleep and cry if they don’t, lock the doors and let them crack on.

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 19:02

Two sleepover children. Oh God... the squealing...

I had a sleep over for 8 to dd in October. I'm still not fully recovered. WineWineWineCakeWineWineGin

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 19:06

Kenworthington They'll def be roughing it in the louge with DVDs.

hazell42 snacks are piled high in a box next to DH, who is gatekeeper. They've already tried to take the box! Neighbours should be safe as we're detatched and set back a bit from the other houses, but I'll still use it as a crook!

3 girls safely deposited with DD. Lots of hugs, squealing, and now a tour of our tiny house.

I'm with you tonight - eight fourteen year old boys ShockConfusedWine. Pizza is in the oven, film on and duvets in the living room so I plan on ignoring them completely and just going to bed when I've had enough. Might need to down a bottle of wine to drown out the noise (although deep gruff voices has to be better than high pitched girls!)

grafittiartist · 08/02/2020 19:14

Nice to have company!
Hiding upstairs with wine, while 14 year olds take over the living room :)

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 19:17

Whatsername177 nooooo don't say that!

May the odds be ever in your favour.

Nah, just kidding, you'll be grand.
As long as they've got snacks and movies they'll be able to entertain themselves at that age.

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 19:19

"Why do you have so many shoes?"

I don't know how to answer that, small child.

Why is my lounge upside down?

OP posts:
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/02/2020 19:35

Try it with boys that age. At least your ones sit down to pee...

Wakeover · 08/02/2020 19:36

They've just deposited these in my hand and begged me to hide them around the house for a hunt Confused

You can go off people, small child.
