This is just today
1.) 8.99 on worming tablets for dd
2.) £20 on birthday presents for twins in dd's class
3.) new slippers for ds as he lost the ones we bought a month ago
4.) Overpriced vegan stuff, it is getting cheaper but it's taking a while. Why is vegan mayo never on offer, or why can't you get tofu for the same price as shit ham? I'm not vegan but going that way and I can't believe how much extra everything is
5.) petrol, just because it isn't very exciting. I only top up once a month but it reminds me of how much I used to save before we had a car.

£15 for a lost car park ticket

Isleepinahedgefund · 08/02/2020 22:08

£7 for two grass mats for the hamster. She is new and very, very chewy. I discovered a couple of weeks ago that she will chew the grass mats rather than the cage bars - she goes through 2 a week. I've just worked out I will spend over £700 on grass mats if she lives for 2 yrs 😬🙄 Lucky for her she's incredibly cute, and it's better than chewing the bars as she could do herself a nasty injury doing that.

£700 though.... 😱

Stamp duty.

Where exactly does that money go?

Certainly not invested in the community where the property is located ...

TheMemoryLingers · 08/02/2020 22:13

£120 on train ticket -

train 1 - 2 carriages when 4 were needed - rammed
train 2 - plenty of room, but no food left on food trolley and ran 20 mins late so I missed my connection
train 3 - only one that ran on time but was an hour later than train I should have got due to aforementioned missed connection Angry

My dd came home with a hole in her school shoes on Friday so I bought her a new pair online and paid the extra for next day delivery...they haven't turned up Angry

£9 on Antibiotics because someone else's dog bit oh!!! "Oh it's never done anything like this before"

IncyWincyGrownUp · 08/02/2020 22:42

Taxis. Due to awkward logistics I have spent nearly £60 on taxis in the last ten days. Hopefully won’t need to use any for quite a while now.

WhenPushComesToShove · 08/02/2020 22:45

New tyres!

EmeraldShamrock · 08/02/2020 22:52

Private therapies, occupational and psychological therapy for my DC as the waiting lists are astronomical.
New everything for DD as unfortunately I can't nail her stuff on to her, the latest her coat is lost.

Whatdayisit2 · 08/02/2020 23:13

£25 parking ticket
£385 storage fees
Birthday parties £60
Our own birthday £250 but that wasn't unexpected!

PinkSpring · 08/02/2020 23:19

£170 on vets fees as our dog got that horrible sickness virus that is going about. As he got sick over the weekend and was really unwell (vomiting, shaking, didn't want to move etc) we had to pay emergency vet fees just for them to see him!!

DimplesToadfoot · 08/02/2020 23:20

@Isleepinahedgefund

How big is your hamsters cage? My Brock was a constant bar chewer and he drove me nuts. When I researched why? It was suggested his cage and wheel were too small and his whole set up I had for him for probably wrong. I bought a new cage, a wheel that seems huge, changed his set up and as far as I'm aware he's not chewed his bars and he has become much happier with me since :-)

I'll try to add a pic of his current set up, he was in a Pets at Home 3 tiered cage before which they told me was ideal .. lies

£25 on an ugly baby doll dd2 was desperate for for her birthday.

EmeraldShamrock · 09/02/2020 12:18

Another for me is the food and household products the cost is getting higher all the time.

Isleepinahedgefund · 09/02/2020 12:54

@DimplesToadfoot that’s a zoo plus Barney right? That’s the same cage we have, and she has a 12” wheel that she makes very good use of. Our other two hamsters were perfectly content with the same set up but this young lady is something else! I keep one end of the cage the same all the time (the nest/sand bath end) but I switch up the other end fairly often and rotate the toys to keep her occupied. It doesn’t help that she is a prolific chewer - she’s going through quite a lot of wooden chews every week too!

She wants to be out of the cage all the time, she gets at least an hour out of cage time free roaming around the hamster proof rooms of the flat daily, usually much longer.

*All the nurses I know see the fees as a massive financial hardship.

Do all qualified professions have an equivalent?*

Allied health professionals do and teachers paying to practice our professions Angry

And that isnt even insurance or a professional body (pay extra for that!) It is literally paying to be able to work....

Sewrainbow · 09/02/2020 13:07

I also resented paying £4 for a bathroom light pull because the £1.50 one was out of stock.

Had to have one as visitors were coming, the garden string we were using had frayed away Grin

NeverTwerkNaked · 09/02/2020 13:14

£25 for a parking fine because I was getting lots of nasty messages from exH and my brain was fried and I totally forgot to buy a ticket.
