This is just today
1.) 8.99 on worming tablets for dd
2.) £20 on birthday presents for twins in dd's class
3.) new slippers for ds as he lost the ones we bought a month ago
4.) Overpriced vegan stuff, it is getting cheaper but it's taking a while. Why is vegan mayo never on offer, or why can't you get tofu for the same price as shit ham? I'm not vegan but going that way and I can't believe how much extra everything is
5.) petrol, just because it isn't very exciting. I only top up once a month but it reminds me of how much I used to save before we had a car.

@gingerbreadslice
I'm so glad it's not just me! 😂

Inferiorbeing · 08/02/2020 16:44

A £250 vet bill because one rabbit bit the other :(

heidihigh · 08/02/2020 16:45

£85 on a new windscreen after a stone chipped mine and it cracked Angry

ABadlyShavedYeti · 08/02/2020 16:46

The window cleaner, he called just before Christmas but I didn’t have any money on me, he said he would call back, the bill was £32 which is 4 cleans.

Finally saw him on Friday, the bill has gone up to £56, no fucking way have they done 3 more cleans in the 6 weeks since I last saw him. And the dining room window which faces the garden is covered in mud and dog slobber on the outside and has been for weeks.

I paid £30 as it’s all I had, but I am not bloody happy, I will pay the rest then cancel him.

whiskersonkittenss · 08/02/2020 16:47

Op if you have a Heron food shop local to you, have a look in there for random vegan bits. The stock changes every week but I got vegan hellmans mayo for 60p, Cauldron tofu and falafel for a quid.

FuckingHateRats · 08/02/2020 16:48

Took my kids to the zoo today (me and three kids), which cost £46 which I did not grudge. The car park was £4 though, which I absolutely do grudge. Given the cost of this day is already quite high, I think a £4 car park charge is too steep.

Ofthread · 08/02/2020 16:48

Hoover bags
Wheels for the dishwasher rack
Lunch at work (hate giving any money to that place)

BritWifeinUSA · 08/02/2020 16:50

Airline lost my luggage on a recent trip back to England. I had to call a certain number daily to see if they had found it (they made it clear they wouldn’t call me, I had to keep calling them). My phone only covers s certain number of minutes when overseas so my phone bill was $534.

Oilnwater · 08/02/2020 16:52

Suitcase charges on BA, it's a 20 hour flight and seats together, utter rip off much like "resort fees" at hotels now.
Also a replacement blazer for my daughter as a "friend" ripped the sleeve.

glasshouse · 08/02/2020 16:56

£60 on gown hire for my graduation, and I couldn't get the hat to fit.

Hsldl · 08/02/2020 17:04

£2 on a royal mail signed for first class letter, very time sensitive and should have been delivered and signed for the next day. It wasn't so sent another, another £2.
Neither have been delivered 2 weeks later and I have lost out on £400 as a result. RM couldn't care less, even though according to the tracking delivery wasn't even attempted!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 08/02/2020 17:04

Being on strike. Not exactly spending money I guess, rather failing to earn it. Needs to be done but ….. I'm still a bit grumpy Blush

thunderthighsohwoe · 08/02/2020 17:05

£500 excess for car repair when someone stopped suddenly in front of me.

I’d happily admit fault, but I was going 5mph queueing to get through the village and she slammed her brakes on for NO APPARENT REASON.

ElbasAbsentPenis · 08/02/2020 17:13

£500 to file tax returns in a country I haven’t lived in for 25 years. This is on top of my UK taxes. I’d renounce citizenship but you have to pay a massive fine to do that, too.

Babyroobs · 08/02/2020 17:17

I had to replace £50 of dd's Christmas money that I accidently threw out with a Christmas card when I was clearing her tip of a room.

Simonfromharlow · 08/02/2020 17:19

@Tunnocks34 hang the sheet in the window. The sun will bleach it. In fact it doesn't even need to be sunny!

Iamnow · 08/02/2020 17:21

As far as the car insurance excess goes, I always chose £0 excess when I take out my car insurance. It adds £10 - £20 to my price.

I realise not everyones will be like that, but worth a try.

santasbigbum · 08/02/2020 17:28

Lost my car key and it's keyless entry. Knew it couldn't be in the car as the car wouldn't lock.
Spunked £200 on a new key.
Where did I find the old one, in the fucking car!

Madein1995 · 08/02/2020 17:28

£52 on shopping for someone I know from na. Is using again and not doing well so offered to buy him shopping. Told him to buy what he needed - didn't expect it to be 50 quids worth and couldn't well say no at the checkout! Then bought coffee (I got mine free on costa card but couldn't not offer) then his car broke down (no petrol) and he had no money so bought that instead. Possibly need to work on being assertive.

6pound on lunch yesterday which I left in the fridge in work and which will have gone off by Monday.

4pound on painkillers. Doesn't seem much but when you're buying every few days it all mounts up

TheGirlWithAPrince · 08/02/2020 17:29

I have just spent £360 on Shein.

Babybel90 · 08/02/2020 17:31

£12.99 on a pregnancy test. I bought the cheap own brand one first and despite being 3 days late with sore boobs it was negative so I splashed out (pun intended) on a branded one and got the result I was after.

lovemynewtrousers · 08/02/2020 17:31

HCPC state registration at £180. I don't get any benefits except being able to work in the NHS. Boils my piss every time.

Union fees cost over £20 a month. Only in union because I need indemnity insurance to be state registered and it's the most cost-effective way to get it.

Sighs

Looking to leave my job and the NHS and have a new career.

Lipperfromchipper · 08/02/2020 17:32

I don’t get this... I don’t really resent spending money on things we need/have to buy!! To be honest I’m just grateful we have the ability to spend the money in the first place without worrying! Or am I missing something?Confused

iklboo · 08/02/2020 17:33

Do all qualified professions have an equivalent?

Doctors will pay over £400 a year from April - no matter what the grade (and junior doctors earn a fraction of consultants and nothing like £100k a year some people believe doctors are on). A lot of other professions like barristers have yearly fees too.

squishedgrapes · 08/02/2020 17:36

New bras because my boobs can't make up their mind what size they are. Held out for as long as I could, I'm a lot more comfortable for sure. I resent because 28g bras are not cheap.
