This is just today
1.) 8.99 on worming tablets for dd
2.) £20 on birthday presents for twins in dd's class
3.) new slippers for ds as he lost the ones we bought a month ago
4.) Overpriced vegan stuff, it is getting cheaper but it's taking a while. Why is vegan mayo never on offer, or why can't you get tofu for the same price as shit ham? I'm not vegan but going that way and I can't believe how much extra everything is
5.) petrol, just because it isn't very exciting. I only top up once a month but it reminds me of how much I used to save before we had a car.

Also the fan in my oven is disturbingly loud now, so will probably have to buy a new cooker soonish.

Snuffkindle · 08/02/2020 17:38

We're going to a wedding and the hotel is £200 for a night. Not too happy about. Already thinking I best not drink too much as I am definitely getting my money's worth at breakfast

Alsohuman · 08/02/2020 17:41

I’d happily admit fault, but I was going 5mph queueing to get through the village and she slammed her brakes on for NO APPARENT REASON

I feel your pain (see above, I wasn’t even in the fucking car) but you don’t have admit fault, it’s automatically your fault if you go into the back of something. Bonkers.

Parking
When the barrier was up anyway when I came to exit

Lincslady53 · 08/02/2020 17:54

I know its a bummer having to pay to park at work. I worked on a shop, and either had to pay bus fares to get to work, about £1,000 per year, or a monthly car park pass at £100 per month, so £1,200 per year. And the car park pass was paid for when I was on holiday and wasn't using the space.

totallydevoidofideas · 08/02/2020 18:07

£100 excess on the car insurance to get a tiny paint chip and dent sorted out on the lease car we have only had for a few weeks. The damage was done in Luton airport parking, clearly by some careless fucker opening their car door onto mine.

Serin · 08/02/2020 18:21

The GTC (general teaching council) was scrapped a few years ago so DH no longer has to pay to go to work. I lived in hope that HCPC would go the same way but no chance.
I have recently quit my professional union (after seeing they spent £20k on their management staff Xmas party) so I'm just in Unison now and dont actually begrudge paying them.

sonjadog · 08/02/2020 18:23

Oh don´t get me started. In the last six months, 1500 on car repairs and MOT, 800 on dental procedures and 500 on fixing the leak from my dishwasher.

Twillow · 08/02/2020 18:30

@BumpyNugget You're not an idiot - I do my icing like this all the time. I think it might just have been appliance death coincidence.

Missushb · 08/02/2020 18:33

Poetryinaction- why do you spend £150 per person for birthdays if they get you a £10 gift?

Lipperfromchipper · 08/02/2020 18:33

This thread has me Confused

Shufflebumnessie · 08/02/2020 18:33

I bought a print that I've loved for ages. The artist had a 20% off sale and I treated myself using money I'd been given for birthday and Christmas. I had no idea how much it would cost to frame.
The print is a slightly odd size and I wanted it done professionally so it looked nice. The framing process cost over double what the print cost. It looks amazing but I'm still shocked at the price (& slightly resentful even though it was my choice!!)

Twillow · 08/02/2020 18:36

Thiought I'd been doing well with overtime and saving hard, had a splash out in Ikea. Next day bill for income tax arrives, to almost exactly the same amount [hmn]

Sixteenbars · 08/02/2020 18:52

I've had £850 vet bill to treat my poor old Labrador but he didn't improve so had to make the heatbreaking decision to let him go then a couple of weeks later my younger Pointador got hit by a car and after trying 2 hours to save her the vet phoned to break the bad news that she would not make it so I'm left with no dogs and another £620 bill. Never felt so empty after spending so much money.Sad

Wanteddownunder · 08/02/2020 18:58

New glasses after I took mine off to read something while I was kneeling down and bloody kneeled on the glasses. Raging

Sparklesocks · 08/02/2020 19:00

Hen do I don’t want to particularly attend (soon to be sister in law)

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/02/2020 19:10

@HaudMaDug

How awful for you, I'm sorry Thanks

Spied · 08/02/2020 19:15

Paid off summer holiday for myself, dp and DC.
A real expensive treat for us.
They can barely muster a smile.
Am feeling very unappreciated and feel like going myself.

Teacupover5 · 08/02/2020 19:18

Food ....DP has just bought us a Harley Davidson and we now can't afford to eat .
On a positive note I will soon be rocking that skinny biker chic look

steff13 · 08/02/2020 19:20

$24 for a new water filter for the refrigerator.

Cliffordthebigreddog · 08/02/2020 19:22

Spent £8 on worming tablets for the dog. Dog was sick a few hours after having them. I could see the worming tablets in said sick. Spending ANOTHER £8 on worming tablets Angry

Thurmanmurman · 08/02/2020 19:23

£200 to have files recovered from my PC and self loathing for not backing up 😭. £90 on a speed awareness course. I've been driving for 23 years and am usually very safe and careful and I've never had a fine before. New school jumpers for DS 7 as he is careless with his stuff and keeps losing them.
