AIBU to think most autographs on EBay are fake?

My son is a huge fan of Keanu Reeves, mainly the Matrix films. I was thinking of getting him an autograph for his birthday. Had a quick look at eBay and I can't believe that all the autographs on there can actually be real, and how would you even know?

AIBU to think I'd be a fool to buy an autograph on eBay, and to ask where you actually buy a genuine one?

YANBU.

I don't know much about buying autographs, but I know that fakes abound.

Doesn't buying one kind of defeat the point? Isn't an autograph supposed to be something you get in person to show that you've met the star? Hence why authors and musicians do signing sessions.

YANBU. There are a lot of other fake items on ebay too. Ebay pretends to care but they like the seller fees too (IMHO).

I mostly collect autographs in person, but have used this place in the past:

hollywood-autographs.com

It's run by a guy from Chester called Jason Thanos (yes, really!) And he's very well known in the sci fi collectors world. Most of his stuff he gains in person so I have no doubt anything bought from him will be 100% genuine.
Other than that there are signing groups on Facebook. I'm a member of a Star Wars collectors group and they organise mail in signings from time to time.
