I have looked on websites but can’t find this information.

In approximately two months, maybe less, I will be moving out of the family home. My DH and I are separating, and our DCs will split their time between our two homes.

I have calculated my entitlement to benefits, but can’t find out when I should put my claim in.

Does anyone know long it takes to process a claim?

If I wait till I move in to my new address, I will be in dire straights.

I don’t have a moving date yet.

Can anyone advise?

Thank you.

Before anyone flames me - I do work full time, I’m just on a low wage.

This is all very chicken and egg but the benefit entitlement will not affect the financial settlement, however the financial settlement will affect the benefit entitlement (and housing options).

I'd be more fixated on getting the financials in place for the divorce rather than focusing on benefits. They're really not that great anymore, especially if you're going 50/50 with the children. Are you not in work at all? Are you children school-aged? UC will expect you to prove you are looking for nearly FT work with school aged children, and the situation with getting your rent paid to your father might not work out.

@stormciarathegale

As explained in my OP, I work FT but am on a low income.
