To wish the window cleaner

Would make an appointment?

I took the DCs to school, came home, and got back into my lovely warm bed. Just heard the dreaded footsteps of the window cleaner coming up his ladder Shock

Now hiding completely under the covers hoping he thinks this big lump is a pillow or...well anything other than "look at that lazy cow" Blush

They always come when the house is a tip too! Need to invent window cleaner appointment system!

Mine uses the long brush thing, which I'm very glad of! I just close all the blinds downstairs so he can't see me slobbing about eating my breakfast Grin

DontCallMeShitley · 05/02/2020 15:34

Long brush, I think, is a water fed pole. Would be handy to clean the porridge off.

This is hilarious 😂

bigbluebus · 05/02/2020 16:20

One of the reasons I ditched my window cleaner was thatbi never knew when he was coming and he didn't knock to let me know he'd arrived when he did turn up. I walked into the bedroom one day (fully clothed) to see him in the middle of the window up his ladder. Not sure who was more startled him or me. He would also let himself into the back garden to clean the back windows which was fine if I was out but in the summer if I was in the garden in swimwear I preferred a warning so I could put few more clothes on.

This thread has made me Grin
I can't cope with employing a window cleaner because of all the reasons above.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 05/02/2020 16:23

I read the title as "To wash the window cleaner" and I thought that seemed extreme Grin

And think you're ? Well you know what!

waspfig · 05/02/2020 16:30

These reasons are exactly why i hate having a window cleaner. I want to get rid of ours but it's very difficult as he lives next door! ConfusedI can't even pretend to be out or run from room to room, I have to go out and chat while he cleans the conservatory. He always does our house at the end of his day (obviously as he finishes close to home) which is usually just as I'm getting home from work so I can't avoid him.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/02/2020 16:32

My window cleaner has a long pole with a water pipe. No need for ladders.

In the summer he knocks on the door incase I’m sunning myself in the garden.

He’s a lovely chap.

Funkycats · 05/02/2020 16:32

Mine texts when he's coming now after I got a bit stroppy about him turning up unannounced. I know there's the old joke about what the window cleaner saw, but it is really an invasion of privacy. I'd cancel him but DH wants to continue with it.

lemontreebird · 05/02/2020 16:43

We cancelled ours by telling him we couldn't afford it any more. True at the time, but it was a handy excuse!

Sometimes I noticed the tips of the ladder waving in the air, other times just the dreaded clunk as the ladder landed on the window, next to where I was slobbing relaxing in bed. This necessitated hurling myself at the windows to get the curtains shut in time...

Bitofnamechanging · 05/02/2020 16:46

I love my window cleaner. Last time he came I went out and asked him to not climb up to the bathroom window as I was about to jump in the shower. Glad I spotted him arriving Grin

JRUIN · 05/02/2020 16:53

Haha this thread is hilarious. I'm glad I'm not the only person who skulks from room to room trying to hide or desperately tries to look busy when the window cleaner arrives. Daft really, because I'm sure the window cleaner has seen much worse than me slobbing about in my mismatched pyjamas at 3 o'clock in the afternoon Blush

I gave up having a window cleaner years ago. The blissful freedom!

Funkycats · 08/02/2020 14:44

Hazybobs Grin Grin Also curtains closed!

Tootea · 08/02/2020 14:55

I'm glad I'm not the only one who runs from room to room hiding or trys to look busy. He's got a pole system so if I can leg it upstairs before he sees me all the better
He always comes at the worst possible time when the house is a tip.
