I'm feeling kinda guilty not sure why has they are my children after all, but i forgot to set my alarm last night, didn't wake up till 9 which I might add never happens at the weekend lol. So I thought fuck it give kids a day off.. Please tell me I am not the only one who has done this. They don't have days off unless ill but that's rare. I feel strangely guilty 🤔🤔

Not the best example of parenting I’ve seen but I can’t get worked up about it.... I feel more sorry for the children of those uptight self-righteous parents frothing at the mouth with indignation and horror at this, who would rather self-combust than not conform to the letter of each and every rule and requirement.

floatygoat · 04/02/2020 20:31

This thread is hilarious. OP ignore these hysterical conformists, hope you enjoyed your day with your little ones.

Lweji · 04/02/2020 20:31

The OP in the OP:

They don't have days off unless ill but that's rare.

But, sure, she's the worst mother ever and on a slippery slope.

Omg she's 5...

Yaay - duvet day! Hope you gave them ice cream too!

Thanks
Sillyscrabblegames · 04/02/2020 20:35

Enjoy these slip ups while you can. My 9 year old has been indoctrinated by the school to tell me every single day that of he is late I will get a criminal record. Zzzzzz

hopefulhalf · 04/02/2020 20:36

Yes it's so hedonistic and bohemian to spend the day watching TV the opposite of boring conformity.

The OP hasn't said I took them out of school to travel the world, build a raft or even learn to swim. They didn't go to school because she CBA. That's not anti-establishment rebellion it's sloth or mental health issues.

Oakenbeach · 04/02/2020 20:37

What is wrong with you people? Do you always overreact? You sound insane. You must be impossible to endure.

Completely agree! Someone is guilty of a tiny infraction and apparently they’re going to hell in a handcart. Confused

anothernamejeeves · 04/02/2020 20:40

@Marmunia1975
Utter crap and I bet you don't know the first thing about safeguarding if you think this. Don't use your self imposed important position to pretend you do

Strokethefurrywall · 04/02/2020 20:41

Fuck me, this thread is the gift that keeps on giving!

The frothing, the hand wringing, the neglect, the "I'm a school governor" don't you know, social services being alerted!! It's so wonderfully Mumsnet!! 🙌🏼👏🏻🙌🏼👏🏻🙌🏼

Keep going you crazy nut jobs, I need the laugh!

FamilyOfAliens · 04/02/2020 20:41

@dwum

That post is cringeworthy.

hopefulhalf · 04/02/2020 20:42

We aim to please ;)

Marmunia1975 · 04/02/2020 20:46

That's the worst-case scenario. I can screenshot my training manuals if you like?

Boredbumhead · 04/02/2020 20:47

You all sound like you were exhausted. You absolutely did an ok thing and were teaching your kids to respect their limits. It won't affect their work ethic.

waterlego · 04/02/2020 20:49

Bored- the mum’s limits. Not the children’s! That’s my only issue with this. There’s no indication that the children wanted or needed this day off!

dwum · 04/02/2020 20:50

@FamilyOfAliens why? Let go of your pearls and unclench hinny.

DroppedBoxxedRuth · 04/02/2020 20:55

OP I once kept dd1 off school because it was too hot. I knew the school didn't have the ability to keep them cool and it was too hot for a school run with a baby.

The school were a little Shock, but I'm ok with that.

Dd1 first day of school this year was over 40 degrees (in Aus) and she went.

It's ok as a parent to make a call on how we actually parent our own DC.

MrsItsNoworNotatAll1 · 04/02/2020 20:57

It's not something I'd have ever done myself but I can't get worked up over someone else doing it. It's ONE day and as long as it's something you don't make a habit of then alls good. Again, fuck all to do with me.

Hope you've all enjoyed your lazy day.

WeSavedSallySally · 04/02/2020 20:57

Only skim read but I don't know what the comment '' not the best example of parenting I've seen '' means.

What are best examples of parenting?

I shudder actually to read that phrase in thiis context because it's so low on radar of '' bad '' parenting infact it's just not bad parenting.

overnightangel · 04/02/2020 20:58

The hand wringing on here is why most people thin mumsnet is mental

FamilyOfAliens · 04/02/2020 20:59

Let go of your pearls and unclench hinny.

Actually you’ve just topped it with your own post Grin

FamilyOfAliens · 04/02/2020 21:00

The hand wringing on here is why most people thin mumsnet is mental

Who are “most people”?

FamilyOfAliens · 04/02/2020 21:02

It's ok as a parent to make a call on how we actually parent our own DC.

Agree - and it’s ok for the school to make a call on how they manage attendance at the school you’ve chosen to send your children to.

WeSavedSallySally · 04/02/2020 21:06

I know whose dc I would be rather be.

Oakenbeach · 04/02/2020 21:06

@WeSavedSallySally

It’s just a turn of phrase..... I meant that that OPs behaviour won’t win any parenting awards, but as you say it’s so low on the bad parenting radar, it’s not really bad parenting at all!
