To ask for some advice about the implant?

I haven't really got many people in rl that I can ask about feminine things so wondering if anyone could help. I have the implant (1+ years) and every month I get a heavy period (sorry tmi) for 6 days then it stops and roughly 4 days later it starts again for another 5/7 days.

Does anyone else get similar or have theirs completely stopped? Tia x

My sister and I both have the implant. Her periods completely stopped. I have bleeding for about 2.5 weeks with a gap similar to you every month Sad I think some people get lucky with it, and others not so much. I went to the Dr and they did give me tablets to lighten the flow and I found that helpful. Good luck!

My first implant I bled a lot, seriously debated not having it replaced when the time came, but then got a 2nd one and have had about 3 periods in all the time its been in, its due out in 6mo!

My periods we'r mainly unaffected with the implant (maybe lighter, but just as regular). I think this was lucky as the doctor / nurse was surprised the last time I saw them. Everyone is different. How we're your periods before the implant? Did they have this irregular pattern? I'd monitor them (apps like Flo can help) and if you notice changes in flow (heavier etc.) and extra periods etc I'd contact your doctor for a check up.

I had the implant for 7 years, my periods pretty much went away but so did my libido and nearly my marriage so I think you have to really pay attention to the side effects. Like a boiled frog, it was only when I came off that I realised how much effect it had, and I had only stopped it as I wanted to see how menopausal I was iyswim.

My periods are all over the place with the implant.
Sometimes I bleed for weeks until I can't stand it anymore and want it out.
Then I won't have a period for ages.
Then I do but it lasts for two days.
Sometimes I have all the symptoms of a period but then nothing happens.

I have been split up with my ex for a year now and can't see anyone new happening for a long time, if ever. I can't decide whether to have it taken out or not now.

My first two - had absolutely no bleeding. For six years, it was bliss. Now i'm exactly the same as you. Near constant bleeding.

Doctor said they could put me on the pill the shorten the periods. The whole reason for the implant was because of the risk factors for taking the pill (too old and smoke)!

I didn't bleed at all but it messed with my head. I've gone to the nonhormonal coil

D4rwin · 04/02/2020 16:15

It did start off with 3 weeks of random bleeds though

I've had mine 2 years. Put in 7 days after period. I've not had any periods since but it has made me put on weight.

Thanks for all the replies, before the implant I was normal 7 day regular periods and now it's went like this, my mood is completely mental with it as well, poor dh gets a mouthful for even opening his mouth lol
