To ask Leavers 2 things (Brexit related, TW for racism)

  1. How do you feel when you see that image?

As someone on the Left and Remain brigades, I've never had an experience where something I have voted for or believe in politically speaking has been grossly misappropriated by a sizeable number of those who feel the same way. One might argue that those who "punch Nazis" might meet this category but I don't think so. With them, their choice of action is where I would disagree but I mostly agree with their politics and most of their social beliefs. So my 2nd question is about that. Can you think of any examples where something like this has happened?

'Confront' was maybe the wrong word but you're allowed to make it clear their comments are inappropriate and unnecessary, in a profession manner. Given you've ignored the first question in my post, I'll stick with the logic that you only make your 'views' known when you're on the internet anonymously. Because you're a big strong man and all that...

I voted Brexit and I am not racist. That post is utterly vile and only represents whoever wrote it. It does not represent the views of the many people who voted to leave the EU that I know.

I do believe that people who settle here should learn our language and speak it in public but that all takes time. When I holiday in foreign climes and address people there I do not expect them to speak English. I use a phrase book and make an effort to speak in the native language.

I would be very shocked to see such a notice.

I think at this particular moment in time, the fact we've just left the EU is making racists feel more confident in their opinions - they have a feeling on comradery from being 'one of 17m' and they think everyone voted for the same reasons they did.

Hopefully, over time and as we see what the effects of Brexit are on our country, the overt racism will die down and we can get back to a sense of normalcy without feeling like we constantly have to pick holes in people's beliefs all the time. It's still rife at the moment on both sides and it's exhausting.

I imagine people like the person who wrote that poster have no idea that immigration is unlikely to go down, but rather will be greater from countries outside of the EU. Which isn't a bad thing!

Basically, as a left winged voter and remainer, I've never had any group of vile bigots jump on a cause I believe in and appropriate it for themselves. I'm wondering how that feels.

Broadly, the left doesn't concern itself with borders, immigration, or the solvency of the welfare state or the rule of law, so it's able to seem really nice.

I don't view this an enduring asset, being that it weakens the state to the point that it loses the confidence of its citizens and can't cope with downturns. I'd rather deal with the minority of racists on the right (they're on the left too, anyway).

I dont know whether it is just me, but I cannot make head nor tail of what the OPis trying to say. The plain English is appalling and it makes little sense

Nope, not just you. It's only fair that a pre-determined quota of people who are unable to communicate coherently in proper English should be deported somewhere - anywhere - starting with the person who wrote that poster.

Just in case anybody's wondering, the total of the pre-determined quota for the above is one person Smile
