To ask what your dream school would have/be?

It can be either what you'd dreamt of, or what your DC would love.

I was always desperate to board somewhere on the coast or on a little Scottish island. Somewhere dreamy with lots of swimming, playing outside, a tiny village shop to visit.... in school you only learn History, Textiles and English :)

Oh! And also Ballet and Music lessons, plus a big school musical once a year (I played Tallulah in Bugsy Malone when I was in year 5 and had decided I would be a famous actor on the West End).

Ah I wish someone would open some tiny dreamy schools.

As a teacher:
No uniform or a very simple one
Clear behaviour policy with high expectations of conduct
Parents who support school and don't spend every 5 seconds whining about their child being expected to follow rules
Ability to exclude students where home are repeatedly unsupportive of the school ethos
Dedicated SEND base, but links to excellent specialist provision where needed rather than expecting class teachers to cater to 12 different contradictory needs in a class of 30
A broad curriculum with an unashamedly academic core and timetabled enrichment through the arts, sport, stem, volunteering, life skills etc
Form tutors seeing a group from y7-11 and forms of 21 students.
Increased PPA time for staff so they can invest in students more
A CPD budget to allow staff to develop areas of their teaching
A stable staff body on the whole with some healthy movement
A school that values experienced staff
Capacity to train and mentor trainees well
A pastoral team who can support students who need TLC, but who don't undermine colleagues
