What do you do for Saturday night date nights? DP loves a trip into central London for an activity or dinner but after a long week commuting into the city I can’t think of anything worse!
I need some inspiration of fun nights out slightly closer to home.

Lordship lane

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 02/02/2020 16:47

Depends where you are in SE London

Hairyhattie · 02/02/2020 16:48

Peckham levels is fun (does make you feel a bit old though)

FizzyPink · 02/02/2020 16:48

Sorry probably should have been more specific, Forest Hill area

But regularly get cabs to Beckenham/Bromley for dinners and to see friends so don’t mind travelling, just hate the thought of the “work” train journey!

I’d echo Lordship Lane or Balham - in particular, Banana Cabaret. I’ve seen Jimmy Carr, Ross Noble, Lee Mack, Reginald D Hunter and pretty much every other big name on the circuit starting out there.

Fifipopopo · 02/02/2020 16:51

The Chandos has delicious pizza.....

Doryhunky · 02/02/2020 16:52

Fairfield hallsnin Croydon has lots of good events

FizzyPink · 02/02/2020 16:55

Oh we love comedy so Banana Cabaret looks great! Also been meaning to try The Chandos for a while, we’re regulars at the honour oak just down the road

The Gantry in Brockley if you want some French fare for dinner, the new cinema behind a pub in Catford, disco nights at the Rivoli, meals out on Lordship Lane. In fact, how about a different bit of SE London each month? There’s loads going on!

biddybid73 · 02/02/2020 17:03

Have you been to Crystal Palace? I used to live there and there were lots of nice restaurants, cafes & bars. I think there is also now a cinema...

FizzyPink · 02/02/2020 17:08

Yes we love Crystal Palace, that’s a frequent Sunday roast and trip to the new picture house outing

Chez Bruce in Wandsworth is nice

Givenupsmokingatlast · 02/02/2020 17:10

Fabulous Turkish place in Beckenham just on the roundabout by the Odeon

LaurieFairyCake · 02/02/2020 17:13

Bus up to Blackheath (the 202?) and go to the restaurants there - you can book the Ivy online ?

FizzyPink · 02/02/2020 17:15

@Givenupsmokingatlast is that Hisar? Been meaning to try there for a while, Hattush in Honour Oak is also on our list

doolallylala · 02/02/2020 17:22

West norwood has a nice cinema

Phineyj · 02/02/2020 17:23

HAVET in Bromley. Delicious. Book ahead though. Nice new cinema opposite. The Churchill Theatre gets a lot of West End shows at lower prices too. In the summer, drive out to a nice country pub?

Phineyj · 02/02/2020 17:23

Well, refurbished cinema. Bromley has a new Vue as well but it's rather soulless.

onemouseplace · 02/02/2020 17:27

Babur is great in Forest Hill/ Honor Oak.

FizzyPink · 02/02/2020 17:28

Ahhh Babur is our favourite Indian takeaway, had one on Friday night actually, although never eaten in there before

OP posts:
Givenupsmokingatlast · 02/02/2020 17:38

Yes it’s Hisar - great food, good value, good service. Pays to book though.

Elbels · 02/02/2020 17:42

The newish sushi on Dartmouth road

Or we head to CP or Dulwich! Comedy at Alleyn's is great when they do it. We went to honor oak comedy and it wasn't overly great!

StrawberrySquash · 02/02/2020 18:27

Bridge House pub in Penge East has theatre upstairs.
Everyman fancy cinema in Crystal Palace - and lots of places to eat up there.
www.trattoriaraffaele.com/About_Us.html in Sydenham is excellent, as is Babur in Honor Oak Park.
Bookseller Crow does lots of book events / book club open to all, just look on their website. Dulwich Books also has lots of events.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 02/02/2020 18:36

Ooo! Watching with interest! x
