Ofsted status given over 10 years ago!

The current school my DS attends was assessed over 10 years ago and there's a feeling that the high rating it got back then is totally incongruous now.

Is there anything that can be done to get Ofsted in?!

OFSTED are going into Outstanding schools again now. My DC's school has just been inspected - admittedly I'm not sure it was inspected at all during the time my 3 children went through it.

The other things that will get Ofsted in is either a drop in standards (as evidenced by SATs or GCSE results); or a large number of very negative reviews on their website or letters sent in by parents. I knew one school be re-inspected very quickly when the latter happened.

Why the outrage?

It's a legal exemption (unless as PP says something happens to over-ride it). OFSTED are currently consulting on changing this:

If you are not happy about specific things happening at the school, then raise them directly with the school. If necessary, escalate to a formal complaint.

You can raise a complaint about the (whole) school with OFSTED but they will expect you to have raised it with the school first (unless you are a whistle blower of course):

My nephews school.was rated outstanding they had no other inspections untill last year it is now in special measures the staff admit there has been a decline for several years ,yet on paper it was outstanding school untill.last year ,another school near me is " outstanding " but hasent been inspected since 2011 so wether it's still outstanding who knows .

My DM works in a school that was last inspected in 2007 . They have had several "mock" ofsteads, though, so are trying really hard to endure they'll get the same grade again.

My DS goes to a school that was rated as outstanding over 10 years ago. They pay an external inspector who they reckon has the same standards as OFSTED.

How independent someone can be who they pay?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lots of rumours of children being 'helped' during SAT assessments, to ensure they keep attainment high.
