To expect a tip top NHS now Boris can spend £350 million a week on it as promised in his campaign.

22 week wait for ENT here.

When will the impact of all this extra cash kick in?

Never probably. Never trust a Tory.

ineedaholidaynow · 01/02/2020 09:29

It’s the same with education. He gives with one hand and takes away with the other. It’s all lies.

Parker231 · 01/02/2020 09:31

The UK will still have to pay the EU until the end of the transition period so I doubt there will be any available cash this year.

Bluewater1 · 01/02/2020 09:31

Tory lies sadly

WeSavedSallySally · 01/02/2020 09:35

I want some tweaking done before more cash is thrown at it. Then money has to work hard and mean something. NHS needs tightening up, cleaning issues sorted out. It's flabby.

I hope new hospitals are built.

Snowy111 · 01/02/2020 09:40

Has he actually said it’s a lie? I think we should hold him to it. He stood in front of that bus and persuaded the idiots to leave, he has a massive majority, he is PM, he will get the leave deal he promised, he now needs to deliver on the £350 million a week.

Or Has he ever admitted it was one of his many lies?

ineedaholidaynow · 01/02/2020 09:47

To be fair I don’t trust any politicians, they are all the same.

Snowy111 · 01/02/2020 09:49

No that’s not true. BJ is a new brand of liar he tops the lying charts and does it openly and unapologetically. Look at the interview in the hospital - “there’s no press here”. There’s something very wrong about him

Clavinova · 01/02/2020 09:59

Brexit bonus or not - Theresa May already stepped in on this a year ago - prompted by the bus claim.

Nov 2018:
"The government will be putting more money into the NHS over the next five years, £394 million more a week."

Full Fact's conclusion:

"Spending increases announced for NHS England’s budget mean that £20.5 billion more will be spent on it in 2023/24 than in 2018/19. That’s £394 million more a week by 2023/24.This money doesn’t cover all health spending."

Sajid Javid's Spring Budget is only 6 weeks away - you don't have long to wait to find out more.

PlomBear · 01/02/2020 10:02

What about the 40 new hospitals? Grin

“there’s no press here”

BBC News/Sky News (not sure which one) are not "the press" - he was interrupted before he could say who they were.

notanotherjigsawpiece · 01/02/2020 10:08

22 week wait for ENT here

In NI it’s 96 weeks! And many other specialties such as neurology are over 250 weeks..........

Rhayader · 01/02/2020 10:08

In fairness. The £34bn a year pledge was made by May. Thats 653m extra a week.

73Sunglasslover · 01/02/2020 10:13

I work for the NHS. I'm wondering whether all the budget related problems we have will be sorted by Monday or whether I need to be a bit more patient and perhaps not expect it until the new financial year in April.

Bipbipbipbip · 01/02/2020 10:16

All that money plus all those extra drs and nurses they said they could recruit, the NHS should be in great shape soon. Fantastic.

Oh, look, did you see that? It's a pig flying!

missyB1 · 01/02/2020 10:20

I’ve heard he’s busy knitting all the new nurses and doctors this weekend. He’s planning to make a few more with old loo rolls and sticky back plastic.
Oh and the money is sorted he’s getting it out of his monopoly set.

DrDreReturns · 01/02/2020 10:22

£350 million a week sounds like a lot but for an organisation like the NHS it's not much at all. Even if they did give it that extra funding it would make very little difference imo.

Berrymuch · 01/02/2020 10:26

Agree with @WeSavedSallySally, throwing money at it will only make things slightly better, it needs an overhaul.

HillAreas · 01/02/2020 11:07

“We send the EU £350million a week

Let’s find our NHS instead”

Not a promise, a suggestion.

ACupOfCoffee · 01/02/2020 14:51

I thought that literally the day after the referendum someone (Farage?) admitted that the claim on the bus was based on lies...?

PhilSwagielka · 01/02/2020 15:09

They could do with making salaries fairer, for a start. Stop paying useless fat cats a shitload of money and get rid of some of those fat cats. In the hospital where I worked, it was a running joke that the more incompetent a manager was, the higher up the pecking order they were.
