AIBU to attend job interview...

I have a job interview on Monday with the civil service.

It’s for an apprenticeship. The job advert asked that all applicants have a GCSE A-D in maths and English language. I do have the correct GCSES, however I cannot find my certificate to prove this.

I stupidly thought that my grades would be checked, without the need for a certificate. I have now just received a email saying I need to bring proof of my qualifications.

AIBU to attend the interview?

From experience, go to the interview but start straight away on requesting certificates, cos they wouldn't confirm my offer until they had seen them.

Yes attend the interview.... what have you got to lose? I don’t even know where my degree certificate is let alone earlier qualifications. Just advise them that you have misplaced them and if required you will obtain copies or confirmation of your results... presumably available nowadays through some digital wizardry.

Ring before the interview and see what they say. You can get replacements from the exam boards

Toffeecakes · 31/01/2020 20:31

Attend the interview, definitely. But contact the school where you obtained the grades unless you know the exam boards then contact them directly. Explain the situation at the interview so they know but you should be able to get copies. As long as you’ve achieved the grades they need there shouldn’t be a problem getting a copy.

YNBU. I think it would be crazy not to attend on this basis.

ragged · 31/01/2020 20:38

Attend, explain. If they want really want you they will give you more time to get copies.

Yes do attend.
Contact your school for a copy of your grades. They can print this off you.
Then contact the awarding body, most have a online form you can complete and they will send out either certificates or a letter officially confirming your grades - there is a cost for this
Hope that helps

Thank you everyone for your support.

I attend the interview. I was advised that I’d need to show them if I’m successful.

I should here within the next 2 weeks.

Thanks again
