I haven’t been in an intimate relationship for over 12 years , until I met my current partner . So far we have been using condoms , but neither of us are keen .
I am 43 with 2 kids and don’t want any more in the future , so having to stop suddenly to ttc isn’t an issue .
What are your experiences of different types of contraception . Do any have any major pros or cons ?

Depends how you react to them.

I really used to love my Implanon implant. Have had one for years (they need swapped every 3)

But lately my anxiety/depression is really bad for a few days each month just before I have my "period" (it's very light compared to a real period)

So I think I'll get it taken out soon and try something else. Keen to see what others recommend.

My husband is happy to get the snip soon anyway.

Mirena coil for me for the last 10 years.
No periods
No side effects
No hassle whatsoever.

Love the mirena
It's like being a man! No periods, no mood swings, happy days

Diaphragm. Libido killing but ok. Amazing I didn't get pregnant on it as I was using it wrong for ages. Modern ones are better (see Amazon) but there are a few diaphragm babies in my family including me.

Condoms. Great in younger years but an awful lot of older men seem to struggle to stay erect with them plus my magic boner-killing vagina.

The pill. Ok.

The minipill. Libido killing.

Vasectomy. Fabulous but the side effect profile is pretty Shock

Being 50. Fabulous.

DH having the snip has proved the best for me!

Depo was great. No periods at all. However I didn't time it right and got DC4 Blush

Implant was ok for the first 6 months but then I had a year of constant spotting plus my mood wasn't good. It also got lost and was difficult to have removed.

The Mirena was awful. I gave birth to the first one Hmm then the second one was really uncomfortable, I could feel the strings all the time. Plus I had loads of spotting.

Depo jag when I was 16. It was awful, I bled every day that i was on it.
Combined pill (microgynon then yasmin) from 17 to 27. Was fine, occasional break through bleeding.
Condoms from 27 to 30 when not ttc. They were fine.
Mini pill (cerazette) 30-32 best thing ever. No bleeding at all, skin was fab.
Now ttc again.
