Started a new thread on the off chance () that something funny might happen in my street later. Maybe around 10pm...

Diagram below for the handful of people in the country that haven't printed it off yet...

DS2 went to an 80's party last summer. He went in white jeans, white "plimsoles" and a Choose Life T Shirt...lt was not a good look! 😂😂

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 11:15

Oooo. Is 11am too early to be excited that A have visitors in 1???

Strange Cars have all gone, the pavement must finally be fixed. Mr and Mrs K are next to X. F has been hogging 4 for days.

I think that, if you want to go down the 1980s styling route, it needs to be formatted like this.

(And I sniggered at having to use "choose file" to add that 😂)

As a householder with a drive, I think that, if it can be proved that a householder is never using their drive for a vehicle(s) and instead choosing to occupy one or more general spaces on the public road which could otherwise be used by those without their own special drive-access concessions, they should lose the right to their unused drive-access privilege and it be marked out as a normal parking space and specifically labelled as free to all.

We have a drive we rarely use. It's very narrow, only about a foot wider than our (not huge) car. And it's steep. I can't go in forwards, as there's not enough gap between the door and the fence for me to get in and out (too fat and I have a bad back lol) although DP is a snakehips and he can wriggle in and out. Backing in means getting out onto the slippery, muddy grass (which is how I trashed my knee a year ago), although in summer it's ok. So we park on the street.

Also, having a car in the drive is a pain in the arse if DP wants to take one of the motorbikes out. I'm sure people in my road would rather lose a parking space than have to listen to an 1100cc bike with race cans thrumming away in the street while I get my shoes on and move the car twice for every trip on the bike he does.

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 11:21

Well yes. It's just part of your garden and use it how you like. But you wouldn't go screaming at neighbours if you couldn't park outside of your drive would you?

@SoupDragon Grin

Wouldn't it be fun if A's visitors stayed all day, but that's probably wishful thinking.

OP, do you think F has gone away, or have you seen them about? My mum has a neighbour who keeps one car on his drive and one on the road, even though he has space for 2 on his drive (and there's insufficient parking for everyone on the road). When he wants to use the car on the road, he takes the one off the drive to 'save the spot' until he comes back and does it all in reverse so that his nice car is on the drive and the crappy one on the road.

FuzzyAtmosphere · 04/02/2020 11:32

OP, no wonder this keeps you entertained every day. I’m hooked. Grin

Snazzysausage · 04/02/2020 11:37

This thread is brilliant and it's prompted me to join! The people who think they own a particular spot on the road is more widespread than I thought. Our neighbour (or The Nobber Next Door as we call him) left this notice on DH's car a couple of weeks ago. He'd gone to a lot of trouble too, fully laminated and everything. We left it there all day knowing it would annoy him if it was still there when he came home. We saw several people looking at it and one car even reversed up to get a better look. Things took an unfortunate turn mid afternoon though when DH broke a tooth clean off and had to do an emergency dash to the dentist, slinging the notice in the car where it still is. Nobber has now taken to standing outside, arms folded, staring at us parking up then scuttling inside when we get out the car! Very odd ...

I've seen a mixture of car space reserving from F. They've not been out much but when they have, they've walked. On one occasion, one of their ?parents came and parked in their space as they drove off, who then walked home until they returned.

@Snazzysausage You'd have thought that someone who went to the trouble of laminating their little sign would have checked for typos first! I think you should correct it with red marker and post it through their door!

HopeYouStepOnALego · 04/02/2020 12:06

OMG, having your DPs come by to reserve your space and having them walk home is just taking it too far. Their DPs must be crazy to agree to it!

HopeYouStepOnALego · 04/02/2020 12:07

@Snazzysausage please correct the sign and post it back, and then come back and let us know if Nobber self combusts Grin

HopeYouStepOnALego · 04/02/2020 12:08

...and maybe add a sentence "please can you learn the Highway Code and stop harassing other residents"

iswhois · 04/02/2020 12:24

.

sunshinesupermum · 04/02/2020 12:46

snazzysausage That's a real passive/aggressive note isn't it. Where do you normally park if not outside your own home then? Weird Nobber!

originalcatlady F's parents parked in their space and walked back home? F is as bad as B then!

So is there currently a space for B when she gets home at 2.00 today??

Snazzysausage · 04/02/2020 12:53

It did cross my mind to correct the spelling - red pen, a correction and "must try harder" on it then post it through the hole in his door ( he has no letterbox, just a hole for the past 2 years or so, it's a long and sorry story,I could write a book) but DH's tooth problem took priority unfortunately. Then I forgot! You'd think with him going to all the trouble of laminating it he'd have noticed the missing letter. Actually thinking about it I could call the book The Antics of Nobber And Other Tales with the sequel What Nobber Did Next.
Hmmm ....

Tandia · 04/02/2020 13:08

Is anyone in 2 and 3 OP? Is B at work? Don't want her to have the option to nick those two spaces when she gets home! Also, Mr and Mrs K must be criticised for being far too nice to their neighbours. Aren't the spaces they are currently parked in further from their house than 2 and 3? Seriously invested in this!

Tandia · 04/02/2020 13:09

*over-invested

Snazzysausage · 04/02/2020 13:12

Sorry, don't want to get the thread going off on a tangent!

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 13:12

Yes but when they annoy B or F, they do it in style!

OP posts:
originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 13:18

A still has visitors in 1. C is now home in 2.

Will B have to park in 3?? This has never been seen before!!

OP posts:
GabsAlot · 04/02/2020 13:21

I had a note put on my car once it read:

Plese do not park in frunt of this house

exactly with those spelling mistakes-i just laughed and screwed it up

WitchQueenofDarkness · 04/02/2020 13:28

This is on an estate near me. I have a feeling the property owner is totally fed up! It doesn't work though - there is always a car parked directly opposite his driveway ( the road is plenty wide enough though for him/her to get out)

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 13:28

Off topic but I once had a note pushed though that said "if it was you that reported me to the RSPCA, come and tell me about it first next time". Erm ok then (wasn't me either).

OP posts:
originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 13:29

@WitchQueenofDarkness surely that's inviting people to park there just to wind them up?!
