At work, constantly asking me for help and IMing me saying - this is what a client has said, what do I say back?

She’s worked there 3 years

I don’t mind helping anyone but I feel like I’m practically doing her job sometimes.

What a head wreck. Be vague, just tell her to say whatever she thinks is best - i.e. turn it back on her. If she says she's not sure, then tell her to take a few minutes to think about what she should say to the client. If she persists then tell her that if she doesn't know what to say to her client, how the hell are you supposed to know. If she messages you, ignore it.

What's your role in relation to your colleague?

I can imagine you feel like you dont have days off!

sirmione16 · 30/01/2020 18:21

I'd eventually say something like "your training/experience should mean you know how to deal with that, what have you done in the past or in training?" and if she says it's a new situation tell her to just use her best judgement and that you unfortunately don't have the time to help right now. Rinse and repeat

What's your role in relation to your colleague?

We’re the same level, but I’ve probably worked there a year more.

It’s just frustrating. Like I’ll say - I’d say this and then she writes it down word for word.

Just ignore all of her messages until you've finished work. Just say you were busy and didn't have time. She'll stop sending so.many if you're not instantly messaging back.

goodgodingovan · 30/01/2020 18:36

Good idea just to ignore or reply with a simple 'sorry, I'm busy just now'

simplekindoflife · 30/01/2020 18:40

Just brush her off.

"Give me 2 mins, I'm just in the middle of something" - then ignore.

"Oh dear, I can't think atm, my mind has gone blank for some reason!"

You don't have to give her a word for word answer?!
