I'm not cancelling my trip.

Presently, the figures of deaths released suggest it's a nastier than usual flu, not the black death, and picking up colds and flu is always a risk of public transport. I will wash my hands more than usual, that's all.

I know people say that there must be more to it because of the Chinese reaction, but there wouldn't have to be. You could bring the entire planet to a stop just by bioengineering and releasing a brand-new cold virus that no-one whatsoever had immunity to. If everyone in a city got the same cold at once, it would be mayhem, and the flu is even worse.

Well, my parents in law are there today and tomorrow they re-enter Britain. So apologies OP but this horse will have bolted within the next 24hrs.

Just go and enjoy your trip and try not to worry. The news media is ramping this up as a big event but it doesn’t do us any good to fret and worry while there are lots of clever people sorting it out for us.

there are approximatley 67 million people in France...chances of you bumping into someone with the virus-and having physical contact, are slight.

I'm not cancelling my trip at half term.

PooWillyBumBum · 30/01/2020 18:03

Cancel it.

And sell it to me for 50% face value Grin

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 30/01/2020 18:17

Hey, I posted first! I call dibs on the tickets!

Jupiters · 30/01/2020 20:17

I wouldn't worry about cancelling. I'm going to Thailand tomorrow and there have been a number of confirmed cases there. But I think unless you've already got serious health issues it would just be a case of the flu if you got it.

j712adrian · 30/01/2020 20:48

Yes, send the tickets to me and I will go in your place.
