AIBU to ask them to invite me in for a cuppa?

I’m dropping the kids off on Friday at ex’s house 10 mins away, normally he picks them up but this time I’m dropping them off after their activity. He’s been with his girlfriend for 10 months now, and I haven’t met her yet. He has jokingly asked before over the phone if I wanted to come round for a coffee, but I didn’t take him up on the offer as I didn’t think he was being serious.

AIBU to ask him beforehand if I can come in for a cuppa and meet his girlfriend? Or is that weird and should I just wait until he asks me again? ( what if he never does?) I feel like this is my chance to meet her, my children like her so would love for us to meet.

"The kids keep saying they'd like to introduce me to N, would this be a good chance? Will she be around when I drop them off?"

I would want to meet someone who was living in same house as my children. Just ask.
