To not find Iris on this morning very funny?

She's an elderly lady in her eighties who was interviewed on This Morning. A thirty something year old man from Egypt randomly contacted her on FB and claimed to be in love with her after a couple of weeks. Lives in his parents' property and wants to come to Britain. When asked about their first intimate moment, she described it as rough and as being painful afterwards. Everyone is finding this hilarious and it's gone viral, prompting lots of "good on yer Iris!" tweets. I feel like the only person feeling slightly disturbed about it - please tell me I'm not alone!

You're not alone!

Timeandtune · 29/01/2020 20:15

I am totally with you OP. Thought it was cringeworthy.

BestestBrownies · 29/01/2020 20:16

God that’s horrible. Poor lady must be very lonely Sad

Where the fuck are her family? They should be looking out for her.

AriadnesFilament · 29/01/2020 20:17

I thought it was very sad tbh

Rainbowb · 29/01/2020 20:17

Surely the sex shouldn't have been rough, she's an elderly lady. The whole thing sounds wrong.

I don’t watch TM but have seen endless clips on FB etc. It’s awful. If she was 35 would anyone be finding this amusing? No, of course not.

misspiggy19 · 29/01/2020 20:18

Nothing like an old fool.

Peridot1 · 29/01/2020 20:21

YANBU. She’s is obviously vulnerable and This morning are complicit when it all goes wrong. As it will.

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 29/01/2020 20:21

Wtf. He wants to marry her. I wonder why? Why are Phil and Holly in stitches over an elderly lady being taken advantage of?
Can't stand daytime tv.

Pinkroses21 · 29/01/2020 20:23

Just watched it on YouTube.... ughhh. Had to turn it off after the KY jelly remark 🤦🏼‍♀️

It's repulsing. And sad. How is it everyone else can see it but she can't ?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/01/2020 20:29

No you’re not alone at all. Quite frankly I don’t want to hear see or smell other people’s sex lives.

Mollie3 · 29/01/2020 20:31

Why is a lady not allowed to have a toy boy boyfriend? Just because she’s 80 does not necessarily mean she is being taken for a ride. Oh wait

It was disturbing though about the KY jelly and rough sex. Wtf. But the way she was talking about it, she enjoyed every minute. So I too say good on you Iris if that’s what you want, go for it. YOLO

macaroniandpizza · 29/01/2020 20:36

Poor lady should never of been allowed on the show. Shame on phil and holly for laughing at her it wasnt funny at all it was sad actually to see an elderly lady be taken advantage of like that by the "boyfriend" and the telly folks too

Rainbowb · 29/01/2020 20:38

Oh come off it, how many men in their thirties would be attracted to women in their eighties and seek them out on social media?!

PineappleDanish · 29/01/2020 20:39

Lowest common denominator ITV daytime... what do you expect. She'll be on the sofa with the Loose Women next week.

Nanna50 · 29/01/2020 20:48

I only saw a clip, not the interview. Apparently her family have warned her and are concerned. I also noticed how she said can’t sleep with him because he is a fidgeter and elbows and kicks her through the night. I think she is not only being exploited by the toy boy but also by the media using it for laughs.

A whole tube of KY really?

Rainbowb · 29/01/2020 21:46

I know. If it was my mother I’d be very concerned. She has a complete lack of awareness of how everyone is exploiting her.

Singlenotsingle · 29/01/2020 21:48

I thought it was gross.

CandyflossKid · 29/01/2020 21:54

She's very vulnerable but I felt sorry for her son's- they must have been mortified listening to what she was saying!

BudgieHammockBananaSmuggler · 29/01/2020 21:56

Presumably she got money from This Morning and the newspapers. She appears cognitively intact, and behaviour not totally out of character for her personality. So really she is making capacitous decisions. Don’t see what family could do about it. Obviously it is extremely doubtful that for the bloke it is #truelove but plenty of relationships are borne from mutual benefit.

NameChangeNugget · 29/01/2020 22:14

It could be genuine..... Grin

Bobleywobley · 29/01/2020 22:14

YABU. i feel sorry for her.

hannabarbera · 29/01/2020 22:21

She was vulgar. You don’t speak like that about your personal life.

Rainbowb · 29/01/2020 22:34

Bobkey wobley I feel sorry for her too, that’s what I mean, I disagree with all these people who find it hilarious.

Rainbowb · 29/01/2020 22:36

Is this how we are treating our elderly now - coercing them into anal sex and then mocking them on national tv? I do despair.
