To ask for help deciphering this Reg Number driven by an monumental wanker?

Sigh.
There's an idiot who drives exceedingly dangerously locally.

I probably see him 2 or 3 times a week as I Potter around our local Asda. Though have seen him also in the nearby city. Think I must have a radar for car tossers.

I'd love to report him but can't as his registration doesn't seem to exist Hmm. Which us probably why he feels he can drive with such utter contempt for the laws of the road.

Yesterday he spread through a pedestrian crossing, causing a teenager to have to jump out of the way, and I'm incensed.

Short of driving around all the residential roads in the hope of catching a glorious glimpse, I can't really offer the police enough info And the likelihood of seeing it is slim I would imagine

Please please help me decipher this:

67 ooo

(using lower case to clarify what I believe it's purporting to be.

Cheers, crime solving side of MN. Wink

old registration numbers can be used on newer cars

but not the reverse

hence I have bought P16LET for my new Ferrari.

Sometimes the screw fixings on personal plates can change the look of a letter/number, i.e. in this case making C look like 6, maybe?

Jaxhog · 29/01/2020 17:06

I believe that while historic cars may be exempt from tax, they must still be registered with the DVLA.

Call 101. If he drives as badly as you say, he will probably already be known to the police. If not, they'll want to get him off the road.

Rhubarbncustard4 · 29/01/2020 17:14

Please just ring it in to the non emergency number ... we all see idiots driving around - what you witnessed today could have been fatal

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 29/01/2020 17:19

The police won’t do jack shit - I promise you!

humblesims · 29/01/2020 17:20

Might there be CCTV at or near the crossing if you gave the police a date and time?

feellikeanalien · 29/01/2020 17:27

As other pps are saying the only way the police might do something is if you have dashcam footage.

I know someone who was charged with driving without due care and attention because a cyclist had a head camera and claimed she had driven too close to him. She had no idea until the police contacted her.

MitziK · 29/01/2020 17:28

If he's changed the plate letter shapes, whether with a different font or with screws, in a vague hope of being invisible to ANPR, he's already committing an offence (as a lot of motorcyclists have found out).

It's worth reporting, just for that.

SirGawain · 29/01/2020 17:36

All vehicles must be registered to be allowed on the road but those above a certain age do not pay road tax.

@ShesGotBetteDavisEyes true. We have a car fair near out house once a month. There an a hole who drives so dangerously. He redoes donuts until there is smoke, speeds, the lost goes on.
I got his reg and footage of him doing donuts in the muddle of a residential street a few meters away from a local school.
Reported it online to the met police - not interested.
Reported it to the organisation holding the fair - not interested.
So frustrating.

Molly2017 · 29/01/2020 18:07

@feellikeanalien I had footage of a guy doing donuts on a residential street, next to a school, with smoke coming out of the tyres. I had the reg. police were not interested.

People can change C's into 6's easily with black tape (same with 0's into 8's) so probably a good bet with what Marnie found

PenelopePissedstop · 29/01/2020 18:22

PIGLET JOHN does it have a curly tail pipe ?

GabsAlot · 29/01/2020 22:05

its illegal to change font or size and spacing so hes prob causing an offence already-id still phone 101 on the off chance someone comes across him

Hingeandbracket · 29/01/2020 22:23

its illegal to change font or size and spacing so hes prob causing an offence already-
That’s true but there is zero enforcement around here. The plates with mangled numbers and letters despairingly trying look like something else almost outnumber the proper ones

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 29/01/2020 22:29

@PigletJohn
Does it have eyelashes?

PigletJohn · 29/01/2020 23:03

Black and white, in patches.

no eyelashes.

I'm told the emissions are terrible, but I've never noticed
