Someone has left rubbish on my drive

Posting mainly for traffic because I know I’m not being unreasonable. We are having some work done and there is a skip on the drive. I got home from the school run this afternoon to find some idiot has left a whole 3 piece suite on my driveway. My best guess is that they saw the skip earlier (was empty but now filled) and thought they would just bring their rubbish to it. So now I have an unwanted sofa languishing on my driveway. Any ideas what I can do about it? I’m a bit outraged at the moment because everything I’ve found looks as though it’s my problem because it’s on my driveway and not public land. Why do people think this is ok? AIBU to think this is a bit cheeky and I am not in fact a household waste recycling centre?

If it looks at least half ok, Put it on Facebook marketplace and labelled FREE. It’ll be gone in 20 mins

Can’t believe the cheek of the skanky bastards.

HouseOfCrayCray · 28/01/2020 22:57

Seriously, who are these cheeky fuckers that live amongst us Shock

takeyourrubbishhome · 28/01/2020 22:59

I know. It’s a ‘naive’ area too. So someone either carried it up the street (which surely must have been noticeable), or drove to my house to dump it, in which case why not just take it to the tip?!

‘Naice’ . I’m the naive one, clearly 🤣

Loads of people have cctv - maybe one of your neighbours has?

I'd be mad if I were you!

Oh shit I voted YABU by accident

Isnappedandsharted · 29/01/2020 06:15

I once came home to find a horse on my drive, do I win?

You are DNBU!!

takeyourrubbishhome · 29/01/2020 06:43

We actually had cctv until a few weeks ago but the system wasn’t working well so we had it removed. We have some new cameras but they are not yet installed. Neighbours at either end definitely have cctv but neighbours around us are all in their 80s and mostly sit at the back of their houses. The chances of anyone seeing are quite slim.

I would have been quite happy to find a horse!

You need a skip cam! I had to get one in similar circumstances. I got a wireless camera on amazon for £25, popped it on the front upstairs windowsill connected it to the WiFi and had an app on my phone. It came with 2 months free cloud storage then it was around £15 for a further 12 months storage. It was fab....also helped me keep track of who was coming and going to the house.

Cheeky beggars!

So the situation has been resolved - the council took it away. I had a nice chat with them and pointed out that I had no idea where it had come from, that people just dumping things on someone’s actual driveway were not the most scrupulous, and that I was a bit concerned that it could contain things like needles. They were really good about taking it away and came sometime today. I’ve attached a picture

I'd hate to see the house that came from.
Looks filthy. Cheeky beggars.

At least they took it for you.

takeyourrubbishhome · 30/01/2020 19:37

And it stank of stale smoke. It was truly revolting

I would put it on the pavement. Let the twat who did it see it every day and be ashamed.

takeyourrubbishhome · 30/01/2020 22:51

It’s not really that kind of a road, it doesn’t go anywhere. When the council collected it it filled the flat bed truck they brought, so someone must have delivered it by truck, but they would have had to go out of their way to get here
