Men breastfeeding?

Orangeblossom78 · 28/01/2020 19:00

To find this a bit grim?

"The preliminary research suggested that men often drink before the child is fed, usually once a day, sometimes more frequently, and for about an hour at a time.

The men said they found it energising. “It sustains me, I come home for lunch and it relieves stress in the middle of the working day,” said Thomas*."

The men also said it was a way of initiating sex and showing affection. “But then it is happening to women who have just given birth,” he added.

"One man told the researchers: “When breastfeeding, I feel like I’m being looked after like a child, and this becomes addictive. I feel like a prince.”

Women did not seem to have much choice in the matter. “It appears to be a hugely coerced behaviour from the people we spoke to,” added Merritt."

EWWWWWWWWWW.

Maduixa · 28/01/2020 22:09

Apart from the situational coercion/violence - this, from the linked article, is really concerning:

Thomas admitted that resistance could result in the women being beaten. “She can’t say no because you become obsessed, it’s hard to stop. If women say no it can cause violence, it’s a big issue,” he said.

If he genuinely becomes obsessed (and/or psychologically addicted) - what happens when she stops producing milk? Serial forced pregnancy? What happens when she's too old to conceive?

FamilyOfAliens · 28/01/2020 22:12

And if I’ve got milk in the freezer that’s close to being 6 months old, and will go to waste, I’ve made ice cream for my older DCs.

Sure you did.

namewhatname · 28/01/2020 22:22

I feel like a prince You may feel like a prince, matey, but you're an odious piece of scum who should be ashamed of this behaviour not to mention your utter disrespect and disregard for you wife and baby.

Once again the man's feelz take priority over anything else - it's nauseating and has to stop.

Deadringer · 28/01/2020 22:24

Is there anything that women have that men don't try to take any from them. (Except maybe fucking wifework). Honestly is nothing sacred.

Girlking · 28/01/2020 22:29

🤢🤮 Revolting.... are you actually serious?

Cautionsharpblade · 28/01/2020 22:29

Serial forced pregnancy?

Yes

What happens when she's too old to conceive?

Sent to slaughter

Oh and the baby is often killed so it takes none of the milk produced to feed it.

Welcome to the dairy industry

Girlking · 28/01/2020 22:34

I reckon I ought to leave this site as I’m increasingly bewildered/disgusted by the posts people write on here . Not very compelling/interesting like it was when I joined initially 🤔

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 28/01/2020 23:01

Revolting!

ThePolishWombat · 29/01/2020 06:24

@FamilyOfAliens they were 2 & 3 at the time - why is blending frozen breastmilk with strawberries and then putting it back in the freezer hard to believe? Hmm

Piccalino3 · 29/01/2020 06:36

I'm reading this while breastfeeding my 6 month old baby and I can't even read that article. The thought honestly makes me feel sick, those poor poor women. Every day men just disgust me a bit more.

tinatsarina · 29/01/2020 10:46

@Cautionsharpblade are you really trying to tag animal rights onto a discussion about human women and how they are being treated by their husbands? You may not agree with the dairy industry but this is not the thread you should be discussing it on.

"poor women"? They probably enjoy it too!

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 29/01/2020 11:19

Has anyone said that? It’s the taking of breast milk meant for a baby that’s disgusting, not the milk itself.

This was largely my reason for giving up dairy. It’s a total disregard for the well-being of both the mother and the child. And I don’t want to participate in something that would be abhorrent if it were to happen to any mother and child.

andyoldlabour · 29/01/2020 11:23

No surprise that it is from the same neck of the woods, which finds FGM acceptable.

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 29/01/2020 11:24

You may not agree with the dairy industry but this is not the thread you should be discussing it on.

To be fair, it’s precisely the thread we should be discussing it on. We are mothers. We have empathy. We are horrified on behalf of fellow mothers because we imagine ourselves in that situation.

It’s just a short step to extending that empathy to other mammals.

PixieDustt · 29/01/2020 11:27

Nah that's fucked up 🤮

KennyRogersWasNotInStarWars · 29/01/2020 11:28

@Helpinghim maybe you should read the article being discussed.

cavabiensepasser · 29/01/2020 11:39

I fucking hate men.

june2007 · 29/01/2020 11:42

Nothing wrong with drinking expressed milk, from the source is getting into fetish area, but you know there are worse things. I remember a guy claiming it was te expressed milk that had kept his cancer from developing and although medics were ske[ptical they had no other reasons to suggest.

Helpinghim · 29/01/2020 11:49

@KennyRogersWasNotInStarWars

You're right, I should have but I honestly did not see the link.

That doesn't surprise me, a lot of men over there have no concern for the women in their communities.

Brievandekamp · 29/01/2020 11:51

AngelsSins · 29/01/2020 12:08

poor women"? They probably enjoy it too!

Oh yes, women love to be beaten when they say no to men Hmm
