Considering 2 primary aged children.

Just bring nosey as I'm in the process of agreeing my new working pattern (which too me 10 years within my company)
Mon - Thurs 8.45am -3.30pm term time only
Think it's pretty perfect 😀

Wow some great hours some of you have!

Unfortunately yes, will still need to pay for breakfast & after school club, but now they have both started school £200 per month is peanuts to what I was paying before!

They also have offered 8.30am - 2pm five days a week term time, but feel I'd really miss that day off to myself!

@Peanutbutterbean how do you find working Mon-Fri? I'm tempted to do it but worry I'll struggle with not having any "kid free" days 😬

8:30-2:30pm Mon - Fri term time only.

Drabarni · 28/01/2020 19:58

At the moment as much as can (setting up business), previously zero.

Redwinestillfine · 28/01/2020 19:58

9-3 4 days a week, term time. Reluctant to give up my 'day', it keeps me sane!

Enb76 · 28/01/2020 19:58

When my child was small I worked part-time, 9:30 to 2pm. Now she’s more independent I work full time from 8:30 to 4:30.

Chienloup · 28/01/2020 20:00

I have fought to get my working hours to 9-3, Mon-Fri, termtime only.
In an ideal world I would like to work those hours but 4 days a week.

MrsStrangerThing · 28/01/2020 20:03

9.30-3.30 would do me nicely! I couldn't afford to only work term time though.

Peanutbutterbean · 28/01/2020 20:05

It’s fine @Ellieboolou33. I work ten minutes from home so it’s all timed to military precision but works fine, just means being organised. I would love to have a Friday off day but haven’t dared broach the subject yet at work in case they think I am taking the piss!

Forgettheworld · 28/01/2020 20:08

I work just 2 days a week, weekends off but long hours 7am-7pm

Groovee · 28/01/2020 20:09

I work 8.30-3.30 3 days a week. It's pretty perfect for me.

Ellieboolou33 · 28/01/2020 20:16

@Peanutbutterbean 10mins commute is amazing, mine is around 40-50 minute drive

@Marmite27 I've been offered those hours too, do you find your frazzled not having a day to yourself?

Wow, I'm very jealous some great working hours here with some good work life balance. I'd love a day to myself so maybe a 4 day week, 9.30 - 2.30? I can only dream! Currently do 7.30 - 6/6.30 5 days a week (plus top up at home). Mainly term time only though which is a bonus!

AmazingGreats · 28/01/2020 20:30

Three days a week (weekdays) 10.30am- 2.30pm so time to do the school runs.
I would do the school run, spend an hour getting my shit together, and then finish in time to pick the kids up. I wouldn't take a lunch break.

theSnuffster · 28/01/2020 20:39

Umm none?! I'm joking, I'd get bored I think.

I work term time only, school hours. I'm very lucky.

PrincessWatermelon · 28/01/2020 20:41

I work 2 longer days (8:45-6) and 2 short days (8:45-2:30). One day off to myself, which is new since the small one started school. I love it. I wouldn't want to do school run every day, although I appreciate doing pick ups 3 times (breakfast club 4 times a week though). I enjoy my work and wouldn't want to be dashing away all the time - with a full day I feel I can actually get things done.
And although term time only is many people's dream, I get fed up of my kids after a few days!! They enjoy the sports camp or variety of grandparents, and I still get peace from them at work! It can be a logistical issue getting enough leave, but I've managed to so far...

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 28/01/2020 20:48

I know this isn’t what you asked, but if I didn’t have children I’d like to work something like 12 - 8/9. Would fit my body clock so much better!

Notthetoothfairy · 28/01/2020 21:04

10am - 12.15pm Tues - Thurs, term time only (those are my ideal hours, rather than the reality!)

Mammyloveswine · 28/01/2020 21:17

In theory my hours are 8.55 til 1.30pm mon-fri term time only.... for 26 grand actual salary..

Except I'm a (part-time) teacher and go in at 7am...the last two nights I've stayed until 6pm...even when I don't stay in school I have marking to do once my children are in bed... I work at least one day on a weekend..

Still easier for childcare generally!
