To find 'Don't f*** with cats' bizarre and frankly quite boring?

Happy to be proven wrong but I watched Mindhunter and adored it. DFWC was recommended to me. Watched most of ep 1 and thought is this it? It's just people chatting endlessly about finding someone. I though they'd be out and about spying etc. (Obvs the thing done to cats is not nice but it's not the focus of the show).

Is it real or staged? Shall I keep watching?

I thought it was quite compelling/quite bizarre how invested the people got and how much time they must have had to be able to do all the detective work they did!!

BlackCatFan · 28/01/2020 13:15

I thought it was highly disturbing

mniser · 28/01/2020 13:15

I would keep watching it's not good to compare it to mind hunter as they are very different it's sick what the guy does and it's a true story none of it is staged they go into details about how they find out where he is and lived and things it's interesting to watch. It's only three episodes and you've watched one already the last two are better the first is just kind of background.

Retroflex · 28/01/2020 13:17

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully it's real (unfortunately) I have refused to even consider watching it personally!

ZaraW · 28/01/2020 13:19

Why do you have to be proven wrong? You either like it or don't. I hated Mindhunter after four episodes I stopped watching. DFWC is disturbing but drew me in with the search for the killer.

Shadyshadow · 28/01/2020 13:22

It's very disturbing. The final episode most of all. Does raise some interesting issues in the last episode

lilmisstoldyouso · 28/01/2020 13:22

OP it's real. If you think what was done to the cats was bad, wait till the next episode.

I thought it was excellent, but the first episode was badly edited and boring.

warning

DO NOT search for the Ice Pick video, seriously.

Ohnoherewego62 · 28/01/2020 13:24

Its horrendous. A man was horrifically murdered and mutilated and cats were tortured to death.

I'm not sure I'd consider it boring.

He was a highly intelligent and disturbed individual.

chellochello · 28/01/2020 13:37

I watched the first few episodes thinking it was a fictional drama made to look like a true crime documentary - I goggled it in the end to find out it is in fact all true! It was of the strangest and most disturbing things I've seen in a while.

Feelingsolost1 · 28/01/2020 13:58

Keep watching I would say! It gets better, I found it mind blowing the way these people went about finding clues! By the end I was like Shock
I didn't think I would like it, I hate animal cruelty but I really enjoyed it (obviously not the murder bits)

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 28/01/2020 13:58

Ok thanks. I was expecting a mind hunter type thing so possibly that's why it didn't grip me. I might give it another go.

I do like true life crime (if like is the word - more gripped I suppose) so I need to watch with different expectations.

Keep watching...

JorisBonson · 28/01/2020 14:18

OP you have to keep watching. This is so interesting / disturbing / gave me weird dreams and kept me Googling for days

Rubyupbeat · 28/01/2020 14:24

I found the search of him and his character fascinating.
It chilled me to the bones.

gamerchick · 28/01/2020 14:27

Isn't that actual footage of the cats though? I don't want to see real cats terrified and being drowned and shit.

Shadyshadow · 28/01/2020 14:34

@gamerchick it shows buts if the video. But not the actual cats dying, or being suffocated. Though it does show a cat on the bed and then a python in the background.

I found those parts difficult to watch even though is didnt show the actual dying.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 28/01/2020 14:37

I watched about 10 mins of it and found the descriptions of animal cruelty too horrible to watch/hear. I didnt like it.

If it had less of that in it, i'd have carried on watching.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 28/01/2020 14:40

It's a lot of things but not boring. It has real victims so comparing it to a drama with actors isn't appropriate really. I found it disturbing but thought it raised a lot of issues. Stick with it.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/01/2020 14:43

I thought the first 20 mins or so were horrific and far too graphic (even though they didn’t show anything). But it does get excellent and very compelling watching

Don’t think they should have made it though, it totally glamourises the murderer which is exactly what he wanted

SagaBauer · 28/01/2020 14:49

I only half watched the first episode as I found the parts describing the cats' death upsetting, DH continued watching and he watched the other episodes too. I just found it so bizarre how much time some randoms on the internet spent hunting the guy down !! They were obsessed! But it was a slow episode.

CakeandCustard28 · 28/01/2020 15:02

I was hooked on it. It made me cry a bit with the cat videos but it’s so clever how they found out who he was and where he was.

smalalalalalala · 28/01/2020 15:06

They dragging it so much, basically 'then we found this clue, and I was thinking 'this is it' and then this happened, it was devastating, we thought we had him but then we found this clue, and I was thinking 'this is it', and then this happened...'

Couldn't believe they made so many episodes of that... only watched #1

sirmione16 · 28/01/2020 15:15

Keep watching. It's about a murder eventually not just the animal abuse. I found it disturbing but fascinating.

MaggieAndHopey · 28/01/2020 15:20

"warning

DO NOT search for the Ice Pick video, seriously."

@lilmisstoldyouso Bit of a disingenuous post! why would you even mention this Ice Pick video if you didn't want people to search for it (I'm not going to search for it)
