DS3 ( turned 3 in november) has been using the potty for the last 5 months, he doesnt have accidents and is dry at night

Past few times we have been out and not had a toilet to hand ( park, long country path walk etc ) I have had to just help him go outside as we had no toilet access

But i cringe everytime and im embarressed even though its quiet and theres no people around

Im being silly arnt i? No one would say anything about it would they? I have anxiety so massively overthink minor things

YABU - its disgusting - find a toilet
YANBU - better outside than his pants

Wild weeing is fine

Jesus some of the replies on here are hilarious. Urine is sterile it's not going to kill you if a child has a pee outdoors.

I've had to have a parked car wee on more than one occasion

I remember being on a dual carriageway about last time last year and really really really needed to go to the loo. There were lots of laybys but no garages/toilets. Anyway I was just getting to the point when I thought I'd stop in a layby and crouch between the doors of the car, when I saw a sign that there was a garage in 2 miles (and it has loos).

Wild weeing is definitely preferable to wetting yourself at any age, and anyone who gets offended by a small child having a discreet wee outside if there are no loos available (which there often aren't) gets offended by everything. And anyway why would you care what people you don't know think?

this time last year

It's no secret. It's called go before you leave and most people manage it

Oh because nobody ever needs the loo a few minutes/half an hour after they left the house! Going before you leave doesn't always work. Especially if you've drunk coffee (less likely for a small child, granted).

If you are going hours without working in a toilet stop, there is your problem

Ever heard of traffic jams?

My goodness the lack of empathy (we'll be nice and call it life experience) is stunning!

It will take only make him anxious if he sets himself. I used to do it with DS when he was learning. I once had to let him wee in an empty fruit shoot bottle in the New Look changing rooms. Boys are great for things like that 😂 Not sure you could dangle a girl very effectively.
