Neighbours bins

We are a semi - attached to our neighbours. Our other free side is a side drive going to garages used as storage.
They used to keep their 3 bins by their free side/ by back gate leading to path to garden. But recently moved all bins to our front of house front garden boundary, and all 3 bins now sit on their side on the edge of the front garden wall, by our bay window so the sight you get when you walk in our living room is of their ugly three bloody bins. It also means every time they faff around putting stuff in bins their face is basically right up to our window and involves a few minutes of awkward eye contact with us sat on sofa or trying to ignore them.
They recently put up screening so you can’t see bins from their side of house, but it doesn’t wrap around the bins at the back, so we have the joy of still seeing the ugly bins our side.

Is it ok to ask they buy more screening for our side too? FYI we keep our bins down side drive so they don’t see them at all.

My neighbours did something similar. They are stuck up thoughtless ass holes.

onanothertrain · 28/01/2020 10:04

They can do what they like with bins on their side, you can do what you like with screening on your side.

Tombliwho · 28/01/2020 10:06

I would just put my own screening up on my side. You cant make them buy it for you.

WorraLiberty · 28/01/2020 10:07

Of course it's ok to ask, why wouldn't it be?

They can only say no.

onanothertrain · 28/01/2020 10:09

Missed that you want them to buy more screening for your side, that's CF territory.

sundowners · 28/01/2020 10:10

Their screening is like this. So unless they bought another panel that actually wraps around the back Of their bins / on their side of the low boundary wall anything we got would look ridiculous as it wouldn’t actually wrap Around the bins. Just be propped up against our side of wall.

Buy your own screening....that way you get something that you like to look at....also means you don't get into a dispute.

Silverservice1011 · 28/01/2020 10:12

Get net curtains...?

CakeandCustard28 · 28/01/2020 10:12

Just put your own screening up, can’t expect them to buy it for you..

Whynosnowyet · 28/01/2020 10:12

Get a sign for your window
Move your bins - twats.

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 28/01/2020 10:16

Why is it so cheeky to ask? They moved their bins to sit underneath their window so close they look right into OPs front room. Invasion of privacy. They care enough about thus acknowledging it’s an eye sore but only for their side, not their neighbours. If they were decent they’d have bought an extra panel to wrap around all sides.

NewtonPulsifer · 28/01/2020 10:40

I would leave it for a while, they might find it is a hassle to take their stuff out to the bins there and move them back

PigletJohn · 28/01/2020 10:55

Put your own fence up, of course.

ivykaty44 · 28/01/2020 10:58

Every time they empty something

Go and watch intently

Curiosity101 · 28/01/2020 11:04

You could put your own fence up or buy your own screening as PPs have said. You could also put up net curtains or a blind or equivalent in your window.

Unfortunately you share a boundary so things like this can happen from time to time.

Floralnomad · 28/01/2020 11:07

If the bins are on their property I can’t see how you can ask them to buy anything , if you want them screened off then you buy something for your side .

Chloemol · 28/01/2020 11:18

I would move my bins to a similar position so they are affectef

MrsBethel · 28/01/2020 12:29

I'd ask nicely if they can move their bins, as they are right by your front window, which is not very nice.

If they are decent people, they'll move them. I certainly would if asked nicely.

If they are anti-social arseholes they won't move them, so you'll just have to put up your own screening. Maybe a trellis panel, and get something nice growing up it?

longtimelurkerhelen · 28/01/2020 12:34

You could buy one of those trellis planters, that would block the view of the bins and stop them looking in your window. Grow some jasmin or other fragrant plant as I imagine in the summer there will be smells wafting from their food bin.

Whynosnowyet · 28/01/2020 13:01

When the weather warms up bins under your open window aren't going to be pleasant...

sundowners · 28/01/2020 16:13

Superglue their bins shut.

Cheeky fuckers.
