To want to hack my own anus off? (Piles.... TMI)

Knobblybobbly · 27/01/2020 16:54

Name changed for this to something more apt.

After the birth of my DD (5) I’ve had what I would call very mild piles ever since.

But recently had a miscarriage (at 11 weeks) and for some reason they have been terrible ever since. I am in virtual agony with them. Anusol is doing chuff all.

I’ve searched loads of threads on here and time and time again Scheriproct ointment comes up. I decided to buy some from online pharmacy.

Did the purchase, all good, on the actual site the photo of the product was a tube of ointment.

In my confirmation email it says it’s 12 suppositories!!!

Will they still work????

Off for a warm bath to ease the pain in MY ACTUAL ASS

looks at stapler on table and faints

Silly question: does anything fix them? I'm wary of surgery.

PositiveVibez · 27/01/2020 17:40

Suffered flare up since I had DD 11 years ago!!! Last flare up I had to go the doctor's because I couldn't poo they were that bad. She had to stick he finger up my arse 😣 and I got suppositories for the piles and glycerin suppositories for my poo.

Well they worked a fucking treat. And it was blessed.

Just had a flare up and bought Tesco's own suppositories for £2.50 and germaloids and they've done the trick. Took about a week for them to go.

Knobblybobbly · 27/01/2020 17:40

I think if you can get them to shrink right down you can prevent them getting worse again by following healthy diet (to keep stool soft) and lifestyle. Weird things like caffeine can aggravate them.

Ugh

obliquesqueak · 27/01/2020 17:41

I found really really careful attention to diet and icing at first sign of trouble has meant they’ve not recurred but some of it’s luck, and factors we can’t control just like every other health thing.

I hate them - I’ve no bloody idea why piles are funny, it’s the absolute worst.

Knobblybobbly · 27/01/2020 17:43

It’s a great leveller isn’t it. And men can get them too which pleases me.

Thankfully, I've only ever had them once. They were painful I could barely walk.

I went to our local pharmacy which has a lovely helpful pharmacist who recommended Anodesyn suppositories. They worked a treat, and in less than 24 hours I was walking normally again.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 27/01/2020 17:45

YANBU no one will ever understand the horrendous pain unless they have experienced it. I cried my eyes out for days after ds2 and ds3 were born because the pain was so horrific.

NorthernNic · 27/01/2020 17:46

I conceed @thequeef!
I agree with @obliqusqueek, I watch my diet, add milled linseed to my porridge and drink lots of water. Not had an episode since burstpilegate but I reckon mine must have been hormone related.

ShipwreckSuse · 27/01/2020 17:46

I once had to phone in sick to work because I was in so much agony from piles I ended up in A&E Blush They put a topical anaesthetic on it and gave me more to take home, was amazing having a frozen bum.

Knobblybobbly · 27/01/2020 17:48

@NorthernNic re. The hormonal thing. My hormones are right up the creek at the moment since my MMC a few weeks ago. So maybe it’s that??

dietcokeandwine · 27/01/2020 17:49

Oh op you poor thing.

I have been prone to flare ups since having DS1 nearly 16 years ago and they are awful.

Germaloids cream is far better than anusol in my own experience and they do wipes as well. And take shed loads of ibuprofen to help mitigate the pain a bit.

I have had flare ups so bad that I’ve been almost bed bound. They are truly horrific and I feel for you. Hope it improves soon.

NorthernNic · 27/01/2020 18:01

Sorry about your MMC Flowers
I had to see a consultant after DS1 so I kind of expected it to reoccur with DS2. After stopping breast feeding things soon got back to normal so there is life after arse ache.

Happyandglorious · 27/01/2020 18:04

@Knobblybobbly you poor thing.
I feel your pain. Been there. Not fun.

  1. Def dont look in the mirror! You will have that image and the accompanying trauma for a long time.
  2. Go to dr. The good strong stuff will work so much better.
Hang in there! (Sorry)
catwithnohat · 27/01/2020 18:07

Not fun but Sheriproct are a dream for the pain; Movicol is your friend to keep things soft.

I wish I wasn't an expert (and if you are offered a haemorroidetomy (?) think very carefully first and take a good 6 weeks off work because the after effects are every bit as everyone says.

lovemelongtime · 27/01/2020 18:33

Witch hazel on cotton wool, pop it between the cheeks before you go to bed. I too have been known to cry with the pain, this does help.

megletthesecond · 27/01/2020 18:37

It might be a fissure. I had a decade of them.
Eventually had surgery and botox. 2yrs on I think it's ok 🤞 , I just can't eat too much or sit down for too long.

SomewhereInbetween1 · 27/01/2020 18:50

I've had them ever since an ex boyfriend "accidentally" rammed me in the wrong place when drunk. It's the weird contraction like pain that I find completely debilitating. The only thing that helps is the anusol suppositories and smothering myself in germaloids. I hope you feel better soon OP, it really is just horrible!

dontblameme · 27/01/2020 18:57

In desperation I read on here someone swearing by a daily bowl of All Bran, well I've not had a flare-up since.

attillathenun · 27/01/2020 19:01

Scheriproct suppositories are little bullets of pure magic OP, the only thing that helped me after DD was born!!

1forsorrow · 27/01/2020 19:11

I always suffered from a rather slow digestive system. After birth of 10lb baby with forceps I don't know about grapes they were more like grapefruit and I was as constipated as hell and dreaded going and dreaded never being able to go again. I never thought I'd beg for an enema but I did.

I haven't had a problem for years, I discovered something that got my digestive system moving and not only did I get rid of the horrors of constipation but my piles healed up as well. It is something called bromelain, it is the enzyme from pineapples apparently and it has changed my life and that is no exageration.

I feel for you, I was an absolute blubbering wreck. Good luck.

73kittycat73 · 27/01/2020 19:15

@VanGoghsDog
To avoid using wipes I use an anti bacterial bottom cleaning gel which you squirt on loo roll. It's really soothing and far less environmental impact.

Do you remember the name of this product or where you can buy it from? Very interested in this.
OP, and other sufferers, you have my upmost sympathy. I've had them for years, but not painfully so for a while thank goodness. I hope you all find blessed relief soon!

cheesepretzel · 27/01/2020 19:20

Anusol made mine unbearable, so if it's been bad only since you started using it then that might be a cause of the pain? As soon as I stopped the anusol the pain greatly improved, I assume something in it was irritating my skin, I too felt the need to chop my anus off! Good luck, it's horrible isn't it.

John470322 · 27/01/2020 19:21

Obviously I have never had a baby but I am sitting on a towel to protect the unholstery and trying to get comfortable. I have read the advice on here and thank you everyone for the ideas. I want to be free from this pain in the ass.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 27/01/2020 19:23

I have no words of wisdom for this but the name of the thread has really made me laugh. Thank you!
