Hi,

I had an abortion in September and since the pregnancy I have had AWFUL spots on my chest, back and shoulders. I have tried the doctors a few times. They gave me antibiotics (didn't work) and then said time might be the best healer.

It's getting worse. It's making me so depressed. Can anyone recommended any good, strong creams that may finally get rid of it?

(Ignore the bag on head, dyeing my hair) hahah. Xx

DD used my Hibiscrub a couple of times for hers. Cleared it up very quickly (I had bought a bottle prior to going into hospital, as they asked all surgical patients to shower with it for a week prior to admission).

I developed bacne during pregnancy too, that was 3 years ago. Sorry I haven't found a solution yet but following with interest.

Shufflebumnessie · 26/01/2020 12:20

Sorry to hear that your suffering with this. It may be something that's already been prescribed for you but Lymecyclin worked wonders for my friend who was suffering from something similar (plus it was on her face too).
I don't have great skin but I've found that the Superdrug Vitamin E range has really helped. They do a facial scrub but you could try it on your back. Hope you find something that helps soon, I know how low it can make you feel.

My acne (chin and back) cleared up completely when I stopped using fabric conditioner on my clothes and sheets. I’ve also switched to SLS free shampoo/shower gel and silicon free conditioner. I still get a spot or two just before my period but it’s a million times better.

Also, since making the switch my husband’s eczema and dandruff totally went away!

How often do you wash your back? I had terrible bacne and it's cleared now completely. I shower daily and use imperial leather soap bar to clean my back. Then clean clothes afterwards. Try jeep hair off your back too if long.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 26/01/2020 12:53

Keep not jeep

It sounds hormonal. I get acne when preg. I hate to say this, but you couldnt still be pregnant could you? Just because it's been 4/5 months since your abortion and hormones should be back to normal by now Flowers

Shallwedothis · 26/01/2020 12:55

My acne came back when I got pregnant and it stuck around for about a year afterwards until I was put on accutane. Try and get a referral to a dermatologist if the antibiotics didnt work. If it is hormonal it is unlikely to clear on its own

The pill sorted my sisters acne out completely.

Had some great advice on here before I got married:

  • Use bar soap not shower gel
  • Wash and rinse hair with head upside down so that shampoo/conditioner don’t go on your skin
  • Use Superdrug spray... it’s from their own brand in the medicated skincare section, put in your back and chest morning and evening. I also used the cleansing pads from the same range on my chest
  • Cut out/reduce dairy
  • Ask for Lymecycline from your GP. That plus the above should get rid of it all. Good luck Flowers
Squaffle · 26/01/2020 13:19

(Should have said - before I got married in a dress which showed all my problem skin areas!)

Bigmango · 26/01/2020 13:23

Definitely stop using shower gels and shampoos with sls in. Magnesium soap is really good for my hormonal acne.

frickinlaserbeams · 26/01/2020 13:44

Just wanted to say I understand that it must be bothering you but from your title I was expecting much worse. I don't say that to minimise your problem or anything but just hopefully reassure you it's really not the worst I've seen and definitely wouldn't make me look twice if you were wearing a backless top etc

I agree with PP about pure soaps etc but please don't let it stop you doing/wearing anything you want in the meantime!
