Do you HAVE to have the last word?

Even when it's clear that your original premise is wrong, it's been proved to be wrong with lots of evidence, do you persist in sticking to it? And relentlessly pursue that until the opposition gives up so you can believe yourself to be correct? AIBU to say sometimes you can just accept another point of view without losing face?

I used to feel a bit like this. These days I can't be bothered arguing. Sometimes I think ignoring someone after they've had the last word is more powerful than you think, because lots of people like really really just like the sound of their own voice and enjoy just keeping the argument going.

Who's going to admit to that? Only twats refuse to change their mind when the evidence changes.

Oh I didn't read your post properly. I've never held onto a point of view if I've realised I was wrong.

I share your opinion, optical but am struck by the number of AIBUs in which 90+% of responses say YANBU but OP persists with saying 'Oh no I'm not'. What is this?
