AIBU to ask what I could do in a week that's productive?

I was due to start work on Monday 27 Jan, but it's been delayed a week. What can I achieve between now and Sunday 2 February that's productive? I've looked for late bookings for courses but can't find any. My house is very clean and tidy, the car's clean, life admin up to date. Any ideas?

Fightingmycorner2019 · 24/01/2020 13:36

Come declutter and deep clean my place !
What about prep for when your start work ?

Open University have some online free courses, you don't get credits for anything else but if you find one of interest to you you may find it a nice way to spend the time.

Or join the local gym for just one month, get in for all the day time sessions and have a couple of PT sessions. They don't have to be ball achers, just ones to help you keep it up afterwards.

Give blood

Don't know what your job is but a week is enough time to do an online course (paid) in a piece of software that's endlessly useful when you don't expect it - Photoshop, InDesign, iMovie etc.

BlueJava · 24/01/2020 13:55

Ooh I am getting some good suggestions, thank you! Keep them coming and I'll let you know what I do. I'm not sure I'm up for decluttering anyone else's house, don't really see myself as Marie Kondo II Grin

Visit friends and or family

Go for swim & sauna or spa day

Go for walk in countryside

Start a new hobby

CakeandCustard28 · 24/01/2020 14:01

Read some books.
Go volunteer in your local old people’s home or charity.
Binge watch all the good shows on Netflix and prime. Grin

I’m jealous my house and life admin is all behind and stressing me out. 🤣 Enjoy whatever you decide to do op.

Exercise

Start a new skin care routine

Start a side hustle

Catch up on Netflix

Decorate a room.

Learn to dance the tango.

Learn a sign language.

MinkowskisButterfly · 24/01/2020 14:07

A short openlearn course (free, run by the open uni, often 10/15 hours as a mid point and you can get a certificate of completion when done, they have so many different subject areas to choose from and do it around you).

nibdedibble · 24/01/2020 14:09

WOW I just googled the OU's free courses - what an amazing resource! I had no idea this existed. Thank you to those who mentioned it!

Mumdiva99 · 24/01/2020 14:24

(Sorry wrote this then saw you said it had to be productive.....why?....can't you just enjoy a few days off?)

Go on holiday - where would you love to go? Maybe a European city break, a few days skiing?

List all the places you would like to go closer to home, theatre shows you would like to see etc and schedule a week of fun.

Call a friend you haven't caught up with in ages and ask if they can meet you? - Who knows they might have extra holiday to use up so can take an afternoon off especially if you can go to them....

Thank you everyone for the ideas! I promised to update you so here it is:
I've done two lots of 5km with another planned Saturday.
Completed a Futurelearn course on AI which was really interesting.
Went to see a friend for lunch (which I wouldn't normally do, so thankyou @Mumdiva99)
Completed a course on Digitization from the OU (free) which I had totally forgotten about.
Got ahead with some birthday present/card shopping.
Prepped 4 meals which are in the freezer.
Tidied up my jewellery box and charity shopped stuff I no longer use.
Read "Playing Big" by Tara Mohr.

Now looking forward to Monday!
