About marks from Impetigo

Sorry blatantly posting here for traffic, but google has failed me.

My 17 month DC had Impetigo just before Xmas. Started the Thursday before and got antibiotics etc. Didn’t pick it and never saw DC doing so.

I would say the crustyness had gone by just before New Year. But it’s left terrible marks on DC’s face and one elbow the elbow is fading but still prominent. But the face 😔. There are two particular patches which have not faded whatsoever and look as red and angry as they did right after the scab fell off. I’ve been keeping it moisturised but nothing. It’s really starting to bother me as I can’t see any progress in over a month.

Everything I’ve read on line says it shouldn’t scar but this looks like it has. At a bit of a loss as what to do. Has anyone else come across this. Might feel better if was fading but fading slowly but it hasn’t a bit.

I had terrible impetigo around the same age, I'm talking fully crusted couldnt bend my arms and legs (obviously I can't remember but have seen pictures!)

Anyway I didn't scar from that but sure it would have taken a long time to heal, especially at that age it's still soft baby skin so will be very sensitive. Annoyingly It's the chicken pox that got me, scar wise on my face

Hope LO is feeling better soon try not to worry.

Such a horrid thing. I just wondered if you had thought of trying manuka honey on the scars ... a friend of mine used it where she'd had an accident and fallen and cut her face and it's not visible, similarly been used to help reduce scar tissue on horses legs ... not that you have horses legs of course. Might be an old wives tale but cannot do any harm.
