To think I shouldn't go to the hen

Yes = Go
No = Don't Go

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and haven't told anyone yet. I am going to a hen do this weekend in a big city - its an afternoon tea type thing followed by pampering / nails session and I'll be around 8 other people for most of the day. Have been really looking forward to it. However, three of the girls have messaged the group complaining about their absolutely terrible colds.

AIBU to that it has occurred to me today that I shouldn't go? I saw someone talking about the Chinese flu thing and it suddenly occurred to me. I also had an awful cold / flu thing in the early weeks and it was hell not being able to take decongestant or anything.

Should I be going?

YES - YABU to be worried, just Go
NO - Don't go

I would go, it sounds nice! Try not to worry about colds and things. You can just as easily catch them at a supermarket or wherever.

PotteringAlong · 23/01/2020 19:47

You are not going to catch Chinese flu from going to have afternoon tea and your nails done! Just go!

TidyDancer · 23/01/2020 19:47

I would go. Tbh as the bride I would be quite hurt if this was the reason someone gave for not coming.

PegasusReturns · 23/01/2020 19:49

Go.

You’re not going to catch Chinese flu and you’ll disappoint the bride terribly.

PennyGold · 23/01/2020 19:53

You're looking for excuses not to go.
It'd be awful for you to bail a few days before the event.. fair enough if it was going to a club, but afternoon tea and nails?! Come on.

MummyCentrale · 23/01/2020 19:58

I'm definitely not looking for excuses which is why it's only occurred to me today even though the messages about their colds have been flying about all week. I just wanted to check I wasn't being completely daft or irresponsible basically.

Also to clarify, I didn't actually think I'd catch Chinese flu! Just that a conversation about viruses got me thinking.

Right, I'm going to go. Thanks for your opinions x

Assuming the city you're going out in isn't Wuhan then you are being very unreasonable not going.

I would go; be careful about washing your hands and hugging those girls but there’s so many colds around that you can’t get away from them

brummiesue · 23/01/2020 20:02

Dont be so utterly ridiculous!!

HeresMe · 23/01/2020 20:04

You would have known if you had flu, cold /flu is just cold.

Flu is diabilitating cold is not.

Go and have a great time! You will only be at home missing out anyway!

PassMeAnotherCoffee · 23/01/2020 20:29

I agree with PP. The virus will spread but not yet. Go out an enjoy yourself, unless you are already in Wuhan.

Meemm · 23/01/2020 20:32
